Amidst the crisis, our organization continues in our commitment to empower the girl child. This past three months we adopted a new theme ' Becoming a Better Version of Myself', to spark our leadership and empowerment training for the girls. With the impoved control measures for Covid as well as the lifted restrictions towards meetings, we decided to go back to the localities to mentor our young girls.
We have patnered with another organization to bring a personal development training program for teens (11-19) with the aim of preparing and equipping them with skill sets amidst a crisis. This pogram seeks to address and help answer common questions that teens battle with. This are such as: Who am I? Where do i belong? Where am I? Where am I going? Who is going with me? Am I my thoughts? , and so on.
In May of this year, we held a 'Mental Health Walk'. Many teenegers in Kenya silenty battle mental health with many committing suicide. It is hard to identify this cases as many parents attribute this to stubborness and attention seeking behavior. We were seeking to enlighten all in attendance as well as the families we work with on how to identify and deal with such cases.
We have also been consistent with our #endperiodshame campaign and we continue to equip the young girls we mentor with hygiene packs. We are greatful to all our supporters, donors and well wishers who enable us to impact this young girls.
