This project supports vulnerable families in South Africa by equipping aspiring entrepreneurs with the skills, mentorship, and support needed to start and grow small businesses. Through certified training, business mentorship, financial guidance, and market access, participants can build sustainable livelihoods. By strengthening entrepreneurship, the project helps families achieve financial stability and create long-term opportunities for their communities.
Across South Africa, unemployment and inequality place immense pressure on vulnerable families. Many caregivers affected by poverty, displacement, or HIV/AIDS struggle to secure stable work, leaving households facing food insecurity, limited access to healthcare, and challenges supporting children's education. Although many aspire to start small businesses, barriers such as limited training, mentorship, financial access, and market networks prevent them from succeeding.
Future Families' Economic Empowerment Division supports aspiring entrepreneurs through training, mentorship, and enterprise development. Participants receive International Labour Organisation-certified business training, guidance from experienced mentors, and support with business registration & compliance, and financial management. The programme also offers marketing, digital tools, networking, and investment readiness support to help entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain successful businesses
Economic empowerment creates lasting change for vulnerable families. When caregivers and community members generate sustainable income, families gain financial stability, children are better supported in school, and communities experience economic growth. By supporting entrepreneurs to build businesses and create jobs, Future Families helps reduce dependency on social assistance and strengthens resilient communities with sustainable livelihoods for the future.
