Happy Faces!
Happy Faces!

Dear Friend,

Today, I am reaching out to you with great news about the BTF’s 2013 Boots4Kids project…

Following what has been both extremely rewarding and busy season, 2013 is finally behind us! This year’s project was a little bit different compared to previous years… This year, we continued to support our core focus group - financially challenged students who are in need of boots and socks for the coming winter- but we also included the children who were the victims of 2011 Van Earthquake to our project scope. I would like to use this opportunity to provide you some important details around what we have done for Van; and then to provide you a general update and the overall summary for the 2013 project.

We’ve got to know the situation in Van from an online newspaper (T24)… The article at T24.com was reporting that there was still number of families living in the container homes in Van following the 2011 Earthquake. According to the article, these families were not only under the imminent threat of the harsh winter conditions of Van but at the time they were also in danger of losing their container homes due to much expected evacuations… We knew we had to take an action; and had to include the kids to the scope of 2013 Boots4Kids project... After contacting the reporter, Hulya, we were put in touch with Gundem Cocuk Dernegi (GCD). GCG was the source of the information that she used for her article; and we partnered with GCD for the Van portion of our 2013 project.

Gundem Cocuk is a non-profit organization, which was founded in 2005 in Ankara, advocates for equal rights for all children and for the children rights. Since their foundation they have made the UN’s “Convention of the Rights of the Child” part of their bylaws. Their mission, therefore, was and is in parallel with ours. GDC representative, Onur, notified us that there were around 500 children continue to live in the container homes under extremely difficult conditions. And, this information set the scope for Van project: 500 pairs of boots and socks for 500 kids before December 31st!

And, with the support of friends like you we successfully sent 500 pairs of boots and socks to Van before the end of December. In other words, thanks to your contributions, 500 New Year presents were delivered to their owners right on time! So, thank you!

Including what was sent to Van, in 2013 we delivered 1,819 pairs of boots and socks to 24 schools.

I would like to thank you for being part of this year’s project and providing support to the children in need. Here is to a successful year and a project! I’m sure 2014 will be a fantastic year for Boots4Kids!

Kindly,

Hande Uzun

Dear Friend,

By now, you and I both have received at least a few emails from our favorite retailers informing us about the upcoming winter season… They update us about the latest trends in winter shoes and boots… Maybe you would like a pair of knee high boots… Or, maybe you would prefer a pair of ankle boots… Or, maybe you would like to go with something more comfortable like Uggs… Whatever your choice would be, you and I both know that we need at least a pair of boots to “survive” the next couple of months…

Recently, I was informed about this young boy, who lives in a village near Erzincan… He does not receive emails from his favorite retailers because he does not have Internet… He does not have a laptop or a computer, either… Some days they don’t even have electricity in the village which he lives in… But this boy, like his other friends who are attending to his school, will also have to “survive” the coming winter. He does not have an option to choose between the various types of boots. He wears his older brother’s old shoes to school. Shoes that are meant to be worn in spring, and certainly not in winter.

So, my friend, you and I both offered a choice… We both can use this opportunity to play a role in improving a child’s life and help him to enjoy this winter season just like you and I will do, too. For just $15 you and I could give a pair of boots for a kid in need, and could dramatically change the quality of their day-to-day life.

In 2014, Bridge to Turkiye foundation is planning to donate 1500 pairs of boots and socks to the children in need. So far, we have sent over 100 pairs to the Eastern part of Turkey. However, our job is not done. And, only with your help and partnership we can reach to our goal before the first snowfall of the season.

Here, my friend; and once again, I’m asking you to be a part of the change. As Thomas Paine said once “we have it in our power to change the world over”. Let’s start today!

Dear Friend,

Do you know that for just $15 you could give a pair of boots for a kid in need?

As we are getting closer to winter, kids in the rural areas of Turkey need your support more than ever! Last year, with the donations we received through the GlobalGiving campaign, we sent 114 boots to children who live in the rural areas of Turkey and have so little.

Last year 228 little warm feet, grateful for the education they were receiving, walked miles to school wearing the boots you donated. This year, with you by our side, we hope to do more! With your support, this year 456 little warm feet could feel the cold a little less and could go to school in their new pair of boots.

More boots mean a warmer winter for more children. And, this means a whole a lot of more happiness! So, we invite you to support our commitment to Boots4Kids project and to continue to be a part of Bridge to Turkey community…

In BTF we never stop dreaming and never stop working for our dreams! And, your donations make everything possible!

Thank you very much for your continuous support to Boots4Kids.

Thank you very much for your continuous support to Boots4Kids.

We were able to send 114 boots with the donations we received from our Global Giving campaign last year.

We hope that your thoughtful donations will help us to send more this year. Winter is still in effect in the eastern part of Turkey and we keep supplying boots to the demanding schools.

Attached are some pictures that we received from the field during the distributions of the winter boots recently.

Also please help us to spread the word among your circles. Cost of a pair of boots is about $15 and every dollar counts.

Thank you very much for keeping little feet warm!

Dear Global Giving Supporters,

Thank you very much for supporting this important cause.

Winter is already here and especially in eastern part of Turkey the winter is very harsh, under  -40 degree weather conditions some children go to school with plastic shoes because of the financial reasons. Last year during the holiday season we sent 171 pairs of new boots to that region with the donations you sent us through Global Giving. In addition to that, this past quarter we sent 124 more new boots to needy children in the same region.

BTF partners with Chi Shoes in Turkey and they deliver the boots to the schools that contacted us for help. After the distribution of boots our field champions ‘the schoolteachers’ follow up with us by sending us the pictures of the happy faces of recipient children. Attached are some of the pictures during the boot distribution at Ataturk Elementary School in Caldiran that is located in the city of Van where earthquake hit last year.

Please consider contributing again to this project during coming holiday season. An average new pairs of boots costs 15 Dollars.

This year our goal is to send at least 1500 new boots to Turkey and so far we were able to sent 1266 boots. We are hoping that with your generous donations we can reach our goal easily.

We would appreciate if you help us spread the word. Thank You.

Happy Holidays and Prosperous New Year.
