REPORT: VDC believes that Empowerment of women in skill development paves a permanent way for their income. It helps them to resolve many basic needs in their family. With this understanding, Village Development Centre aims to provide skill training ad permanent self employment in door mat weaving for 40 dalit and backward community women. We are seeing door mats everywhere in front of the homes, hospitals, schools and wherever human beings are living. Learning door mat weaving is simple and need not much technical knowledge, electricity power and space to establish and erect the machine. Women can able to do all the work and they don’t need external technicians for assistance. They need intensive training three to four weeks to learn the skills related to the door mat weaving.
The door mats are using every place like hospitals, schools, colleges, government buildings, home and where people mobility is more. Further, it is environmentally friend project, where the waste cotton cloths are recycled. Once they learned the skills in door mat weaving, they can able to earn average INR 160 per day in addition to their household works. Marketing is available at the door steps of the producers. The market needs are increasing every day. There is good scope for further extension. Whenever women need rest, they can take it. It doesn’t disturb their routine work at their home. There is no any hazardous in this work. This project evolved from the women and we have identified the potential beneficiaries for this project.
