SKILL TRAINING FOR WOMEN IN DOOR MAT WEAVING

REPORT: VDC believes that Empowerment of women in skill development paves a permanent way for their income. It helps them to resolve many basic needs in their family. With this understanding, Village Development Centre aims to provide employment in door mat weaving for 30 women for dalit and other backward community poor women. Door mat weaving is simple one and need not much technical knowledge, electricity power and space to establish and erect the machine. Women can able to do all the work and they don’t need external assistance. The door mats are using every place like hospitals, schools, colleges, government buildings, home and where people mobility is more. Further, it is environmentally friend project, where the waste cotton cloths are recycled. Once they learned the skills in door mat weaving, they can able to earn average INR 160 per day in addition to their household works. Marketing is available at the door steps of the producers. The market needs are increasing every day. There is good scope for further extension. Whenever women need rest, they can take it. It doesn’t disturb their routine work at their home. This project evolved from the women and we have identified the potential beneficiaries for this project. Our respectable donors are donating to this valuable cause. Yet we are not reached our target donation and once we received the donation from GlobalGiving, we will start our work. We express our sincere thanks to our donors and GlobalGiving.
