Warm greetings from No One Down Relief Organization (NODRO).

We are pleased to share our latest progress report for the project “Emergency Relief for 1.1 Million Conflict Affected.” This initiative is dedicated to providing life-saving assistance and recovery support to individuals and families affected by conflict across vulnerable regions in Ethiopia.

During this reporting period, we have made meaningful progress in delivering urgent humanitarian aid, restoring hope, and supporting affected communities toward recovery and resilience.

Project Overview

The Emergency Relief for 1.1 Million Conflict Affected project aims to address the urgent humanitarian needs of populations displaced or impacted by conflict.

The project focuses on:

Emergency food distribution
Provision of shelter and non-food items (NFIs)
Access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services
Basic healthcare and psychosocial support
Protection services for women, children, and vulnerable groups

Key Achievements (January – March 2026)

During this reporting period, the project achieved the following:

Distributed emergency food supplies to 8,500 households
Provided shelter materials and essential NFIs to 3,200 displaced families
Delivered clean water access to over 12,000 individuals
Supported 2,800 beneficiaries with basic healthcare services
Provided psychosocial support to 1,750 individuals, including women and children
Conducted hygiene promotion campaigns reaching 10,000+ people
Established 5 temporary safe spaces for women and children

Dear GlobalGiving Community,

Three months ago, No One Down Relief Organization (NODRO) intensified its humanitarian response through the project “Emergency Relief for 1.1 Million Conflict-Affected Ethiopians”, aiming to deliver lifesaving assistance to families displaced by conflict, drought, and compounded humanitarian crises across Ethiopia.

This project exists to restore dignity, save lives, and provide hope to communities facing extreme vulnerability. We are profoundly grateful to GlobalGiving and our compassionate donors whose solidarity has made this urgent response possible.

How the Project Is Progressing

Since September 2025, NODRO has been working closely with local authorities, community leaders, and volunteer networks in Amhara, Tigray, Oromia, and Afar Regions to deliver timely emergency assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs), women-headed households, children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities.

Despite insecurity and access challenges, our teams remain committed on the ground—ensuring aid reaches those who need it most.

Achievements from September – December 2025

Provided emergency food assistance to 18,500 conflict-affected individuals, prioritizing displaced families and households with children under five.
Distributed essential non-food items (NFIs) to 4,200 households, including blankets, sleeping mats, kitchen sets, and hygiene materials.
Delivered emergency WASH kits to 3,000 households, improving hygiene and reducing the risk of disease outbreaks.
Supported 2,100 women and girls with dignity kits, ensuring privacy, safety, and menstrual health during displacement.
Reached 6,800 children with nutrition screening and referrals to local health services.
Mobilized community volunteers to support fair distribution, accountability, and feedback mechanisms.

Early Results & Community Stories

From Displacement to Dignity

“When we fled our village, we left everything behind,” shares Aster, a mother of four displaced in North Wollo. “The food and blankets helped my children sleep without hunger or fear. It reminded us that we are not forgotten.”

‍ Women at the Center of Response

Women-led households reported improved safety and well-being after receiving dignity kits and hygiene supplies—critical support in overcrowded displacement sites.

Protecting Health in Crisis

Access to clean water and hygiene materials has significantly reduced reported cases of diarrhea and skin infections among children in supported communities.

Challenges We Face

While progress continues, several challenges remain:

Ongoing insecurity limiting access to some displacement sites
Rising food and transportation costs due to inflation
Increased needs surpassing currently available funding
Temporary shelter shortages during seasonal rains

Despite these obstacles, community resilience and donor support continue to drive our response forward.

What’s Next? (January – March 2026)

In the coming quarter, NODRO plans to:

Expand emergency food assistance to 25,000 additional beneficiaries
Scale up nutrition and child protection services in displacement sites
Strengthen WASH interventions to prevent disease outbreaks
Integrate early recovery activities, including cash-for-work where conditions allow
Enhance coordination with humanitarian partners and local authorities

Sustainability & Humanitarian Accountability

Though emergency-focused, this project is designed to lay the foundation for recovery by:

Linking emergency aid with livelihood recovery programs
Strengthening local response capacity through community volunteers
Using beneficiary feedback systems to guide program improvements
Ensuring transparency through regular monitoring and reporting
