Aid to the Suffering Victim's of Flood; Karimadom Colony
Kerala, also known as ‘God’ s own Country’, experienced the largest disaster of flood and slide in the month of August 2019. Due to unusually high rainfall, Kerala faced this devastating flood situation. Almost all the dams had been opened since the water level had risen close to overflow level, flooding low-lying areas. Over 400 people died, many people missing and a million were evacuated.
Even today the suffering of Vitim's of Flood continues. Don Bosco Veedu Society could find the Victims of flood even after a year of its occurance. Even though the state government is very active in helping the people in their reconstruction, there were limitation due to the lack of resources including the finance.
Don Bosco Veedu society with the noble contribution from the GlobalGiving Donors could manage to support 10 families to supply with coat, Bed and Bed Linen to underprevilaged families from Karimadom Colony.
This giving was possible with the support of Residence Association of Karimadom Colony. In pursuance of a call, an informal meeting was held at the colony to take some action towards relieving the sufferings of the victims from the slum. After some deliberation, the meeting identifed 10 families who lost their beds and coat in the flood and are lying on the floor durring the night. Those families were identified and carried out the distribution.
