Project Report | May 8, 2026
Seeds That Grow

By Mena Obodoagwu | Program Coordinator

Project Summary:
Over the past four months, amongst other activities, we delivered four flagship activities advancing our mission to educate and form young women in character and leadership. We engaged 17 new JSS3 students, hosted senior-secondary girls in mentoring and writing programmes, conducted a community outreach, and ran a spiritual retreat. Alumni and parent volunteers contributed throughout.

Here's our impact at a glance:

  • 17 new JSS3 students onboarded through a 24-hour immersion camp
  • 4 Elara alumni returned as coordinators, modelling continuity of mission
  • 20+ parents attended the camp orientation and centre tour
  • SS1 and SS2 girls participated in the Best Minds Essay Competition
  • Solidarity Saturday outreach participants joined our STARS leadership seminar
  • Annual spiritual retreat hosted at The Lagoon School

Activities Delivered:

JSS3 Camp Orientation & Tour (April): A 24-hour immersion experience for 17 incoming JSS3 girls and their parents. Programming combined a Math session led by an invited teacher to strengthen BECE exam readiness, bonding activities, mentoring classes, and faith-based formation. Parent feedback was strongly positive.

S.T.A.R.S Mentoring Programme (March & April):  In March we hosted the Best Minds Essay Competition for SS1 and SS2 girls, with many submitting essays even during their school exam period. In the month of April, Mrs. Brenda Unuavworho, author, architect, and women's coach, led a session on turning ideas into action. Girls from our Solidarity Saturday outreach joined the Elara girls, creating a shared space of learning and friendship.

Solidarity Saturday Outreach (March): Our girls visited families in the local community. A highlight was reconnecting with an 8-year-old whom they have coached since she was 2; she shared her latest school results and her dream of attending The Lagoon School — a tangible sign of the long-term impact of consistent mentoring.

Annual Spiritual Retreat (March): Elara girls participated in a retreat hosted at The Lagoon School, providing space to pause, reflect, and grow in their interior lives.

Story of Change

"She brought her school results to show them and shared that she looks forward to attending The Lagoon School one day." Six years ago, she was a two-year-old in our outreach community. Today, at eight, she is dreaming of the very school our girls attend and our girls, in turn, are seeing the fruit of showing up consistently. This is what transformation looks like, one girl at a time.

Thank You
To every donor and sponsor who has aligned with our vision: Thank You!. Your generosity is reaching real girls in our centre, in our outreach community, and in the next generation we are forming together.
