Dear Alhassan donors, supporters and believers,
Thank you for donating to Egyptian Kids on Wheels project. Your donations play a major role in changing kids’ lives. Helping kids developing a positive and healthy attitude towards their physical challenge is the first step on the road of success.
We mostly provide the same types of services to kids as we do to grownups but we give them extra attention and we have dedicated an entire project to them due to how sensitive kids’ nature is.
Grownups, usually, understand why they’re different; consequently, they adapt and embrace their challenge; even find ways to shine. Kids; however, do not understand that. They find themselves different from their peers and no one their age wants to be their friend because, unfortunately, that’s how the majority of people treat the differently abled; they alienate them!
In Kids on Wheels project we try to cover all aspects we could in a kid’s life. We provide peer-to-peer counseling to them and their families; register them in sports and/or arts programs; provide customized wheelchairs that are especially designed to accommodate kids’ rapid growth; provide accessibility in their home and schools, etc.
In order for these kids to succeed and shine they need an edge. That edge could be by their athletic or artistic achievements. These achievements from a young age will help them stand out among their peers; furthermore, they’ll grow up to be an added value in their society and gradually erase the mental image people have of differently-abled people.
Karim here is one of our beneficiaries that we’re very proud of; he’s a 12-years-old boy who has scoliosis and multiple defects in bones and joints. After he applied to be one of our beneficiaries, he and his family got peer-to-peer counseling which raised their awareness and introduced many opportunities. He then applied for the adjustable wheelchair project and that wheelchair made such a difference in his life; he became more independent and it enabled him to start playing table tennis. Now Karim plays in the national team of Egypt for juniors and competed in Africa’s championship and placed third, also worth mentioning that he was the youngest contestant there.
Donate to Alhassan this #GivingTuesday and help us win a share of half a million USD from @GlobalGiving. Don't wait too long, there's only few hours left!
