Young Woman from the University Support Program Accepted into Medical School

By Elisa Lima Villamea Cotta | Institutional Development Manager

The initiative aims to support the inclusion and retention ofyoung people who graduated from the Educational Programto explore new opportunities in Higher Education

The University Support Program of the Instituto Reciclar celebrates three years in 2025, directly supporting young people who graduated from the Educational Program in continuing their

studies and accessing Higher Education. This support seeks toexpand opportunities for a long-term professional journey for youth.

In Brazil, only one in five young people aged 18 to 24 are enrolled in higher education. According to INEP, this represents 21.6% of young people in this age group accessing new learning opportunities at university.

At Instituto Reciclar, the encouragement to pursue universities begins with the Educational Program, where, in addition to the young people assisted reconciling socio-emotional and technical training with High School, young people are encouraged to think about their life project.

In 2025, the University Support Program will continue to support young people who graduated from the Educational Program not only in accessing Higher Education, but also in achieving their dreams. Sabrina is an example of this: she will continue her learning in the healthcare field by pursuing a degree in Medicine, after graduating as a Nursing Technician at the Albert Einstein Educational Institution and entering the job market.

Sabrina says that, during her first year of training, she decided, during the Life Project workshops, that she wanted to pursue a career helping people: “One of the most special moments I experienced at Instituto Reciclar was in the Life Project workshop, when we chose our vocational courses. We interviewed professionals in the fields we wanted to pursue, and I interviewed nurses. I was enchanted by everything they shared about their routine at the hospital, the challenges... It was there that I realized that the health field was truly my dream.”

Created to break the cycle of inequality and contribute to the comprehensive education of young people, the University Support Program encourages them to act as agents of transformation in their communities and in the job market. To support them in this stage, Instituto Reciclar created a Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance for tuition fees at private higher education institutions or college preparatory courses, as well as support for students to remain in public universities.

This Fund is made possible by donations from individuals and legal companies that believe in the cause and make this project a reality. You can be part of this ecosystem that invests in the development of our young people by clicking here!

“When I found out that Instituto Reciclar would help me in college, at first I couldn’t believe it! My whole family is happy for me, and I am very happy too. It is a dream come true. The Institute is a place where we are welcomed, where we learn a lot, and where we create a second family. To this day, I keep in touch with all my friends from here, and honestly, it feels great to be part of this story.”

Instituto Reciclar is proud to follow the academic and professional journey of young protagonists who, with determination, continue to conquer new spaces for learning and development. In 2025, may we celebrate even more stories like Sabrina's and those of many other young people who drive our work every day.
