Dear friends,
Greetings from IDEA!
Hope you are having a great start to a new year! Our kids have enjoyed a variety of activities ranging from digital literacy to sports and exposure visits. You will be happy to know that your contribution is helping hundreds of underprivileged kids get access to self-developmental opportunities which is getting them ready for their bright future! We are delighted to bring to you this report!
EXPOSURE VISIT to Fergusson College
Last month, our kids got a wonderful opportunity of visiting a reputed and oldest learning institution called Fergusson College (FC). The college students invited our kids to their annual gathering during which the kids got a rare chance to see the various projects displayed by FC students from various departments like Chemistry, Biology, Zoology and Geography. The kids were awed at the creativity and talent on display. Most importantly, the kids got to visit FC’s famous Geology and Chemistry laboratories which are one of the prestigious ones in Asia. FC college students took our kids on a tour of the college and labs and inspired them to focus on their school studies so that one day they too may join such reputed learning institutions.
DIGITAL LEARNING for all
At IDEA we believe that opportunities of development should be accessible to all. Digital literacy has become indispensable when it comes to availing various career opportunities. While privileged children get an early access to digital world, their underprivileged peers lag behind leading to a divide between haves and have nots. We are expanding our digital literacy centres in Pune city every year so that we cover maximum children. At our digital literacy centres, children learn basics of computers and internet. They learn how to use MS Word, Excel, Paint etc. Later they learn how to surf the internet, how to search for information related to their studies and importance of cyber security so that they use internet and social media responsibly.
SPORTS DAY celebrated with gusto!
As part of our HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT initiatives, our team conducted SPORTS DAY for children. Sports and physical exercise are important for all-round development of children but underprivileged kids get less opportunities to explore sports in a disciplined manner. Our volunteer Preeti who is studying sports management helped us conduct the sports day. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning - warm up exercises, kabaddi, running race followed by a grand prize distribution ceremony. We thank our Preeti for energizing the children and discussing "Importance of sports" with them. IDEA is working to improve and instil leadership qualities and team spirit in children and sports are a good starting point.
Friends, we are doing our best to give maximum self-developmental opportunities to underprivileged kids and no doubt your contribution is making it possible. Pease continue to support your project. Let’s EDUCATE to EMPOWER!
