Dear friends,
Greetings!
It is always a pleasure to update you about everything our children are upto. At our Study Centres, we have been extensively working with children from various underprivileged communities, one such is the tribal fishermen community in Bhor, Pune. The children from this community have started going to school only since a few years. Many of them are first generation learners. So you can imagine the efforts it takes to bring their learning levels on par with other children their age. One special educator and a remedial teacher exclusively work with these tribal children teaching them through various activities and educational aids.
Their efforts are paying off beautifully and this is evident not just from the marks that the children score in school exams but more so from their sweet gestures. Recently on the occasion of GURUPURNIMA, which is a day to pay respects to one’s teachers, the children thanked their teachers in a unique way by conducting a poem reciting competition. What better gift can a teacher ask for, right?
Timely health-check- ups are an absolute necessity, therefore a free health camp and also another dental camp was organized in the tribal community for the Study centre children and their parents. A team of doctors conducted check-ups and also distributed essential medicines and hygiene kits. They also conducted awareness sessions on topics like the importance of regular health check-ups, nutrition, hygiene and methods of oral hygiene.
In another Study Centre at LAMANVASTI, it was time for a parent-teacher meeting. This meeting was particularly interesting as some years ago, people from the community asked us to shift our study centre and so we shifted it in another neighborhood. Slowly the children started coming back again as their parents realized the important role the study centre played in keeping their children interested in schooling and far away from other unwanted distractions. At this Parent-teachers meet, they requested us to bring back the study centre into their community. This is nothing less than a testimonial for us.
FRIENDS, TO GIVE LAMANVASTI CHILDREN THEIR STUDY CENTRE BACK, PLEASE DONATE NOW!
