Celebration of BERDO,s 34^th Anniversary

On 17^th August, 34^th anniversary of BERDO was celebrated with much fanfare. In this event, NCTB chairperson Md. Saifullahil Azam, an additional secretary, was present as chief guest. There was a discussion meeting on performance of BERD. Audiences, with huge applause, received the chief guest.

After the formal meeting was started. There were different guests, BERDO officials and students of BERDO Blind School, Executive Committee Board members were present among others.

The function was started with recitation from holy Quran. Md. Saimun Islam, a BERDO Blind School student, recited verses from holy Quran. After that, Ms. Hosna Ara, treasurer of BERDO, delivered complimentary speech.

Afterwards, a large cake was cut to mark the day. After that Md. Saidul Huq, Executive Director of BERDO, delivered his speech and highlighted different activities and performance of BERDO. After that, the chief guest delivered his speech and informed that government has been carrying out many programs for well-being of persons with disabilities. He also underscored the need for government and private partnership for betterment of Persons with Disabilities

Md. Musharraf Hossain, BERDO chairperson, and presiding person of the discussion meeting delivered his closing speech. He informed the meeting that BERDO had been successfully implemented about 16 project supported by different international donors for well-being of persons with disabilities. He wished cooperation from all to reach goals of BERDO and reach more unserved persons with disabilities in future so that they can lead decent lives with lives of opportunities. He also added that BERDO has passed a long way in pursuit of brining a positive change in the lives of persons with disabilities; BERDO has been able to build a seven-storied building of her own and reached to 52,600 persons with disabilities with different services to address their needs and problems.

At the conclusion, he declared close of function.

A recreational visit by BERDO Blind School Student

A recreational visit by BERDO Blind School Student

The value of education is just behind essential needs of food and cloths. Without education, it is not possible growth of human development and human potentials. We cannot deny the fact that the importance of education is crucial in personal, social and political lives of a human being. Learning can be attained by two ways; one cosy way is by reading books and other is by seeing. It is possible to refresh our mind and body through seeing / watching different interesting sceneries.

In line with this idea, all student and teachers of BERDO Residential School, visited Bangladesh Airforce museum from 2.30 P.M. to 6.00 P.M. located at Agargaon on 1^st June, 2024.

The student went there by riding newly launched Metro rail which increased their enjoyment and attraction. During the way, students enjoyed their journey by singing songs, Ghazals (one kind of spiritual songs that calm and sooth mind) and recitation from poems. After the end of this metro rail journey, all student entered the venue and took a fresh breath of relief. The most attractive part of thus Air Force Museum is display of different fighter planes and helicopters. The Blind school learners had entered inside planes and helicopters and sit in Pilots seat for a while. They touched control parts of Airplane and Helicopters by hand and became excited with ardour and enthusiasm.

In addition, the students were briefed about the roles, function and few salient features of different fighter planes in a war. Apart from this, students were briefed about the crucial roles of these fighter planes during war of liberation in 1972.

The student enjoyed their time by riding different riders like Train, Nagar Dolla (Marry -go-round), Ranger ride etc. The also enjoyed by seeing replicas of different birds and Break Dance as well.

They also enjoyed the day by playing different games including football at lush green field of this Air Force Museum. During this visit, the students were served snacks, cakes and water for refreshment.

The learning of student by seeing would last forever as it is a learning directly from nature. This kind of recreational and joyous visit refresh the body and mind of a person. After the trip, student returned BERDO hostel travelling again by Metro rail.

Celebrating 'Annual Picnic'

Celebrating ‘Annual Picnic’

On Friday of 23-02-2024, BERDO organized a recreational ‘Annual Picnic” for 2024 at Rover Scout Ground of Barabaria area in Manikgonj district. Among others, prominent figure and winner of 2^nd highest Civil Award EKUSHAY PADAK and BERDO Executive Director Md. Saidul Huq, three deputy directors Md. ShahidUllah, Ms. Maksuda Akhter, Md. Salim Uddin, BERDO chairperson advocate Musharraf Hossan Mazumdar and vice chairperson Md. Jahangir Alam , entrepreneur Md. Mazharul Huq were participated in this event. In addition, Officials Md. Arshad Ali, BERDO EC board member Ms. Masuma Akhter, Md Russel, and officials of BERDO head Office and Branch offices, their family members, students of BERDO Blind School and other guests were participated in this gala event.

The function was started at 8.50 morning with start of journey from BERDO head office of Mirpur. For recreational activities, there was sound system at two-storied BRTC bus. All the time, on-route to picnic spot, blind school student of BERDO enjoyed the time by singing and dancing. Breakfast were served during the journey to the picnic spot. At 1040 A.M. the picnic, bus reached the picnic spot.

There were luxurious rooms to take rest at Rover scout House. Cooking was started outside Rover Scout Building. Both Deputy Director Md. Shahidullah and Office Assistant Shohag Howlader supervised the cooking all the time.

There was sport event. BERDO residential school students participated in in various events of sports in the scout playground.

At 3.30 P.M., all took dinner it was so delicious with different tasty food items. At 4.30 prizes giving ceremony for sports was started. Md. Saidul Hiuq and other senior guests including BERDO chairperson Advocate Mosarraf Hossan and vice chairperson Md. Jahangir Alam distributed the prizes to sport winners.

At last, lottery draw was held and young boys and girls took the tickets for 34 winners. Surprisingly, Deputy Director of BERDO Md. Shahidullah won the 1^st prize.

After completion of all events, Picnic bus started to move toward BERDO office at Mirpur, light refreshment was served during this time and at 9.00 P.M., the bus reached Mirpur BERDO Head Office. Everybody enjoyed the day with much enthusiasm.

Students of BERDO Blind School were happy and excited to go for the picnic. The entire day was well spent enjoying singing, playing games and interaction with ach others.

Overall, it was indeed a memorable event.
