Christmas at the Casita is a little bit different from the one we know from some Christmas songs: first of all, it is really hot, and almost everything in time gets covered by dust - not snow.
Yet, it is a great time of the year for our kids to party and prepare for the new year.
School ends and will start again in March, so our kids will have lot of fun (and some homework to do, too... ) at the Casita.
The Casita stays open as usual, to provide continual daily access to our young friends.
There will be the chance to study, for those who need help in some subjects, and plenty of time to play and practise sports. Math and language contests, some lighmaintenance and a good cleanup of the area.
To encourage younger kids in reciprocating what they daily receive at the Casita, the staff has agreed upon giving a small monthly prize to those who give help regularly: an ice cream, which is really appreciated by everyone.
Chiara, our volunteer from Italy who is spending a whole year in Huaycan working as a community service officer, works day by day together with our local staff, to help both in daily and extraordinary activities: ranging from outdoor games and sports, to supporting a more effective communication with donors.
As you may see in the last picture, at the Casita our kids are ready to start a new exciting year: have some fun with us!
