Education is important for children so that they can develop and integrate into society in an optimal way. In ednica we provide the tools for this process to be meaningful, that is to say, that they practice what they learn day after day and visualize their future as citizens committed to their natural, political, social, family and work environment.

We share the testimony of one of our children:

Hello my name is Diana, I'm 10 years old and I've been 2 years and a half in ednica, where I've learned mathematics, such as basic operations such as sums, I remember that in a session we were given drawings to solve the result we had to look in the drawing and color the result.

In one session we were separated into 2 teams, each member had to go to solve an operation on the board and that helped me improve my learning.

The divisions for me became very complicated, my educator had to help me with the doubts I had and improve my skills.

In reading and writing I learned the different types of poems such as drama and the characteristics that a poem should have such as: stanzas, rhymes and verses.

Reading and writing means not only reading and learning stories, but also checking spelling and cleanliness and above all good writing.

En matemáticas he visto números romanos, fracciones y números decimales.

In this year 2019, we want to thank those who supported us in our end of the year campaign, with your support, the children who work in the streets of Mexico City, will continue with their studies.

In this month, we commemorate the International Women's Day, in Ednica we believe that the mothers of these children are an indispensable piece for them to continue studying and stop working in the public space.

For this reason, we work together with mothers to develop socio-emotional skills that favor their positive parenting skills towards their sons and daughters.

We invite you to read his attached testimony and to continue being part of Ednica supporting our work again.

Letter from the mother:

My name is Elizabeth, I’m 38 years old, it’s been 6 years since I come to ednica. I have 4 children named Jenifer, Alonso, Diego and Monserrat.

In ednica they gave taught me to respect others, and my children mathematics, prevention against gender violence and against women. They have also taught emotion control and how to communicate better at home.

All this while my children play, draw, or are taken to the park, I help by cooking and like to bring my kids here, because they look happy

For the past 29 years, ednica has sought to ensure that street children know, defend and exercise their rights, especially the right to education.

During this time, we have seen that education opens up possibilities for them to improve, incorporating them into school reduces their time spent on the street and allows them to have access to better living conditions.

During this period, thanks to your support, we were able to get 140 children and adolescents who work in the public space to enrol in school and keep studying.

We would like to share Rosely's testimony with you.

Hi, I'm Rosely, I'm 10 years old and I'm from ednica Ajusco.

I have been coming to ednica for 4 years. Here I have been taught addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction with a decimal point, and that for me is going to be useful for my school and my exams. In reading I have been taught what is important in reading. I like stories because they help us to know about hygiene, firemen or princesses.

I attend the tournaments and at the end they give us a small lunch. I have learned not to fight and to be angry, we have to be kind. And if we are going to go for a walk we have to be punctual and not miss. I learned that we have the right to play, to study, to eat, to health, not to work when we are children.

As you can see, our educational program goes much further than just incorporating them into the school, we want them to be happy children, self-confident and good citizens. Once again, thank you for making it possible for children who work on the streets of Mexico City to have access to their education.

We invite you to continue trusting in us and to continue with your support. Translated with

At Ednica, we strive to ensure that children who work on the street stop doing so and continue their studies.

We are very happy because thanks to your support, we are able to tell stories of children, teenagers and young people who entered school from the basic level to the university.

Today we want to share with you the testimony of Brandon, who attends the Xochimilco community center.

Hello, my name is Brandon D. I´m 10 years old and I have been attending the Xochimilco Community Center since I was 5 years old.

The activities I do at ednica are: film workshop, life skills, and math activities like the multiplication lottery, we also read in the beehives, I've been to the book fair 4 times and I've bought several books like "The Little Prince".

I have improved in school in Spanish and math.

Because of their socioeconomic conditions, it is difficult for these children to reach even basic education; however, it is thanks to their trust and support that every day we strive to enable them to do so.

During this time, topics such as peace education, the culture of legality, the defence and promotion of their rights, the development of social-emotional skills and the strengthening of their cognitive skills, such as mathematical logical thinking and the development of reading skills, have also been developed with the children.

Thank you for making it possible for children who work on the streets of Mexico City to continue studying.
