Knowledge that empowers, autonomy that transforms

By Maria Paula Granados | Communications coordinator

In Medellín, when a teenage mother gains access to education, she doesn’t just change her own story—she rewrites the story of her child, her family, and her community. At Fundación Juanfe, we believe in that power. Education is not just a right; it’s a tool for freedom, self-worth, and dignity.

In 2024, we supported 534 teenage mothers on their educational journey through our 360° Model, reaching 2,136 of their children and family members along the way. We know that many of them came to us with fear—but also with hope still intact. That’s why every class, every mentoring session, every conversation becomes a spark that ignites their potential.

221 young women began technical training in high-employability fields, combining vocational education with psychosocial support and life skills development. They are studying to become:

  • Commercial and Customer Service Assistants
  • Administrative Assistants (with a focus on health)
  • Human Resources and Occupational Risk Assistants
  • Software Development Assistants
  • Administrative Support Technicians

But this process doesn’t end in the classroom. 109 of them secured their first formal job, and 75% remained employed for over three months, showing the strength and sustainability of our model.

What’s more, 94% of employed participants are earning between one and two minimum wages, a major step toward economic autonomy. Because when a woman earns her own income, her voice grows stronger—at home, in her community, and in shaping her future.

Thanks to collaboration with 165 corporate partners, we facilitated 493 job opportunities in 2024 alone. These partnerships brought many young women to a moment they once thought impossible: signing their first work contract—and with it, beginning to build a different life.

But there are still hundreds of teenage mothers waiting for an opportunity. They want to learn, work, grow. They want to be seen—not for their past, but for their potential.

Today, you can help make that happen.
Donate now and join us in transforming the world, one woman at a time.
