Summary

This project will empower three adolescent mothers in Cartagena, Uraba, and Medellin by giving them access to education, psychosocial support, and vocational training-tools proven to break cycles of poverty. Your support will open the door to economic independence, safety, and dignity for these young women. By sponsoring them, you are not only transforming their lives, but also improving the future of their children and strengthening their entire communities.

Challenge

Colombia recorded 66,686 births to adolescent mothers last year. Many of these young women live in high-poverty areas like Cartagena, Uraba, and Medellin, where limited access to quality education, childcare, mental-health services, and job opportunities severely restricts their future. Early motherhood increases school dropout and economic dependence, placing both the young mothers and their children at high risk of repeating long-term cycles of poverty and social exclusion.

Solution

This project guides three adolescent mothers through Juanfe's two-year model: four semesters combining psychosocial support and high-demand technical training. The first semester is 70% psychosocial and 30% skills training; the second and third shift to 70% technical training and 30% psychosocial care. They also receive childcare, nutrition, and transport support. In the final semester, Juanfe's Employment Center connects them to companies, and supports their transitiinto their first formal job.

Long-Term Impact

By completing Juanfe's two-year program, these adolescent mothers gain education, emotional stability, and high-demand technical skills that lead to formal employment. This strengthens their income, reduces vulnerability, and prevents repeat pregnancies. Their children benefit from safer, more stable environments, while the mothers become economically independent and capable of breaking long-term cycles of poverty in their families and communities.
