From learning to transformation: how education changes the future of teenage mothers
In Medellín, every teenage mother who gains access to education has the opportunity to change her future and that of her child. At Fundación Juanfe, we believe that knowledge does more than transform lives—it breaks cycles of poverty and paves the way for autonomy and hope. Our work is not just about teaching skills; it is about restoring dreams and opportunities to those who have been invisible to society.
Through the 360º Model, we supported 534 teenage mothers in 2024 on their journey of education and growth, impacting an additional 2,136 children and family members. Many arrived with fear, facing an uncertain future, but with an unstoppable determination. Thanks to our program, they not only received technical education but also psychosocial support and a bridge to formal employment. We know that education is the most powerful tool to change realities, and every young woman who graduates is a story of resilience and triumph.
The impact of our work is tangible. This year, 221 teenage mothers began their intervention process within the 360º Model, gaining access to training in high-demand fields. Of these, 109 young women secured their first job, with a 75% retention rate, proving the sustainability of the support we provide. Additionally, 94% of employed young women earn between one and two minimum wages, significantly improving their quality of life and that of their children.
Behind every young woman who enters the workforce, there is a story of struggle and determination. This year, we have seen many sign their first work contracts, excited to begin a life where dignified employment is a reality. With the support of 165 partner companies, we have facilitated 493 job placements, opening more doors for our beneficiaries to access formal and stable employment opportunities.
The journey is far from over, and many more teenage mothers are waiting for the opportunity to transform their lives. But to keep moving forward, we need more hands, more allies, and more hearts committed to this cause. Every donation is an investment in the future of these young women and a step toward building a more equitable society. Today, we invite you to be part of the change. Join us in this mission to provide real opportunities to those who need them most.
Donate today and be part of this transformation. Together, we can build a future where knowledge is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and opening doors to hope.
