EWEI Online, our online community for horizontal learning, exchange and mentorship, has in the last quarter, featured 7 unique topics and 203 unique responses from 2 countries on the platform. Topics discussed include; Charity, Suicide, Positive Youth Development and Climate Action for Peace to mark the International Peace Day 2019.
The platform also shared 9 global funding and fellowship opportunities for members. These opportunities were aimed at fostering members professional development, empowerment, grassroot Impact and women leadership.
The first live chat for the quarter was held on 21 September 2019 with Gloria Kasang, an environmentalist with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and Resource Management, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Geographic Information Systems, and a Masters in Renewable Energy. Gloria is a Climate Reality Leader trained by Climate Reality Leadership Corps under the tutorship of the former Vice President of America, Al Gore, and the team lead for Citizen’s Climate Lobby International in Kaduna State. She hosted the live chat on the topic” Climate Action for Peace’’ to mark the International Peace Day 2019.
The second live chat for the quarter was held on 29 November 2019. Our guest mentor was Barrister Hajara Jibrin Abubakar, a member of Advocate Sans Frontiers; an International NGO active in human rights and development, the Nigerian Bar Association and a seasoned professional in her field. She has developed an urge to fight against the culture of silence ravaging Nigerian youth, and hosted the chat on the topic “Rape in the eyes of the Law.”
