2020/2021 Examination performance
By Paul M | Project Coordinator
We celebrate our volunteer teachers and mentors who bridged the learning gap during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ruaraka Community. We have witnessed improved performance by students who sat for the 2020/2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and going by the results posted by the various partner schools and individual students supported by the programme, we are happy that our efforts are not in vain. We are truly changing and improving lives! 68 candidates benefitted from our program during the period and here is a summary of how they performed. 6 students scored between 400-500 marks, 17 scored between 350-399 marks, 22 scored between 300-349 and 23 scored below 300 marks. All of them are proceeding to secondary school scheduled to start in July 2021.
Our volunteers will continue to play a key role in the community to ensure that assignments and learning resources are given to the students we are supporting in our program. With the return to in person learning of all schools, the organization and through a team of dedicated volunteers will directly provide free teaching assistance and support to underprivileged students through mentorship, and organising extra-curricular activities. It is envisioned that more students from the 7 partner schools will indirectly benefit from the project and complete schooling with a high level of literacy and core skills, enabling them to succeed in life.

2021 Project beneficiaries
By Paul M | Project Coordinator
Kenya has officially set January 4, 2021 as a date for in person learning of all schools. Schools were closed indefinitely in March 2020 due to Covid-19. In October, the Kenyan government had allowed phased reopening with students of Grade 4, Standard 8 (primary school finalists) and Form 4 (secondary school finalists) reporting back to school.
The organization continued to bridge the learning gap brought by the COVID-19 pandemic in Ruaraka Community by engaging the services of the volunteer teachers and mentors to carry out home schooling. Our volunteers have continued to play key role in the community to ensure that assignments and learning resources are given to the students we are supporting in our program. This arrangement has benefitted 172 candidates during the Covid-19 restriction period.
With the return to in person learning of all schools, the organization has identified 24 beneficiaries from 7 schools who will receive educational materials and tuition fee. The organization with the available resources and through a team of dedicated volunteers will directly provide free teaching assistance and support these 24 underprivileged students through mentorship, and organising extra-curricular activities. It is envisioned that more students from the 7 schools will indirectly benefit from the project and complete schooling with a high level of literacy and core skills, enabling them to succeed in life.

Continued Learning During COVID-19 period
By Paul M | Activity Coordinator
The organization has continued to bridge the learning gap brought by the COVID-19 pandemic in Ruaraka Community by engaging the services of the volunteer teachers and mentors who walk door to door checking on students’ home learning arrangement. Kenyan government have encouraged home learning for students especially for the KCPE and KCSE candidates. This has left many parents resorting to organised tuitions for their children while they are juggling between providing the basic needs and learning resources. Our volunteers have continued to play key role in the community to ensure that assignments and learning resources are given to the students we are supporting in our program.
In Ruaraka, Elizabeth, is working around the clock to assist primary and secondary students amid COVID-19 crisis. Elizabeth is part of a team of dedicated volunteer teachers/mentors working tirelessly to teach and mentor young girls on how to keep safe from the sex predators in the community and to focus of completing education. This arrangement has benefitted 100 girls and we aim to reach 200 more by the end of quarter.
