A final thank you!

A final thank you to all those who contributed to supporting the salaries of teachers at Cotagala School this year, and thus sustaining the education of 80 children and young people with disabilities. We are coming to the end of the year so this will be our last report under this project.

We have raised over $13,000 during this campaign and over $9000 was raised in December 2017 alone!

How your donation has helped this year:

The funding received by GlobalGiving paid the salaries of 11 teachers this year. These special teachers who nurture and educate mean that children such as Dinushi have the opportunity to fly high and excel; you may remember her from previous reports.

In August, Dinushi achieved extremely high marks in her Grade 5 scholarship exam – a national test for all 11 year olds. Despite the fact that she was only given 10 minutes extra time due to her physical disabilities, she was able to excel and is one of many breaking down barriers to inclusion and acceptance in Sri Lanka.

She says of her achievement, “I am really happy that I did so well and would like to thank all those who supported me especially my teachers!”

Looking to continue your support?

We are launching a new campaign to raise funds for 2019 here:

https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/disability-education-sri-lanka/

Our goal is to raise $10,000 by the end of December 2018.

Our new campaign goes live on Tuesday 27th November – a special day for not-for-profit organisations worldwide as it is ‘Giving Tuesday’, a global day of giving! Any donations made on this day will be eligible for bonus prizes where a $150,000 incentive fund will be split between total funds raised on GlobalGiving on this day. Please do consider a donation on this day.

We would like to thank those who have set up regular donations that have sustained the project throughout the year. Your regular donation will continue automatically onto the new project, we hope that you can continue to support us.

Once again, a huge big thank you for all your support in 2018 – your belief in what we do is a huge motivation for us all. Every single donation counts and we appreciate all your support!
