STEM hack and tinker with gear to make it serve us
STEM hack and tinker with gear to make it serve us

STEM continues to sweep through the learning environment at Dhammajarinee, resulting in more engaging, meaningful, and enjoyable learning.

Dr. Kohlhagen, world renowned STEM expert, returned this year to offer a three-week intensive STEM training. Three programs ran simultaneously with 200 students participating in computational thinking, 60 students learning science, and 30 advanced students joining a digital skills module. Teachers were also trained as part of this initiative to bring the knowledge and methodology to all the students at the school.

The learning was classic STEM—interdisciplinary, hands-on, and real-world. One such example from the many amazing days of exploration involved students integrating mathematics, science, and technology in the context of creating a smart garden and smart home devices. As part of this process, they learned skills related to electricity and electronics; solar; wireless control technologies; software for mobile devices; data management and AI; and plant biology, agriculture, and hydroponics.

The students’ imaginations are being unleashed, their creativity is soaring, and innovation is flourishing. The photos below share a glimpse of the joy!

Dr. Stuart’s Facebook page contains daily July entries with photos, videos and descriptions of his methodologies used during the three-week training at Dhammajarinee. Enjoy Dr. Stuart Kohlhagen’s Facebook page link:  https://www.facebook.com/stuart.kohlhagen.9

Education is not only a ladder of opportunity for these girls, but it is an investment in our world’s future.

Thanks to you, their dreams are coming true.
