Teach By Tech is focused on restoring the autonomy of Colorado refugees by emphasizing self reliance and education. Our economic empowerment programs provide refugees with financial literacy training, digital literacy application and English language acquisition. Our unique approach uses mobile phones and digital tools in addition to classroom meetings to reach a larger audience and tailor each course to the specific needs of the community.
In nearly three decades, Colorado has become home to over 45,000 refugees. Teach By Tech believes that refugees are integral to economic growth and innovation in Colorado. Unfortunately, many refugees arrive with little to no education or knowledge of personal finance or digital literacy. Many have limited English language proficiency. All of these factors limit opportunities and slow the acquisition of self sufficiency, improved employment and overcoming poverty.
This project will allow us to reach over 60 refugees and provide them with training in financial literacy for personal finance and financial literacy for employment. Each course is designed to meet the needs and pace of the participants. We provide supplemental videos and text messages to engage and teach students. Each student has access to basic computer training and becomes aware of the functions of mobile phones as a means to access information and manage finances.
This project will provide 60 refugees with long term financial stability by giving them the necessary tools for managing their personal finances and prepare for employment. It will help to integrate refugees into the U.S. financial system, and promote positive economic activity in communities across the country. Economic empowerment is the key to overcoming poverty and attaining self sufficiency. Our programs are meant to promote self worth and and encourage refugees to strive for betterment.
