QUARTELY REPORT ON MALARIA PREVENTION IN UGANDA
On behalf of PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) Uganda, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the generous donors who supported our innovative project, "Malaria Prevention through Drama in Uganda". This initiative aimed to educate and raise awareness about malaria prevention and control measures among vulnerable communities in Uganda, using drama as a powerful tool. Thanks to your support, we have made significant progress in our mission to reduce the burden of malaria in Uganda.
Achievements:
Through your donations, we were able to stage drama performances in various communities, reaching over 17,768 people, including children, women, and men. The drama group made presentations in these identified sites in the following Sub Counties: -
To ensure that a big audience is received, mobilization was done through running radio announcements and Mentions on VOT FM. News stories were written and disseminated to editors of the local radio stations for broadcast for more impact to be created.
Six radio talkshows were carried out on VOT
A public-address system was hired and used during all the sensitization sessions to attract a bigger audience.
Our team of talented actors and health experts worked together to develop engaging and informative scripts, highlighting the importance of using bed nets, indoor residual spraying, and seeking prompt medical attention when symptoms arise.
The impact of your support has been remarkable. Our project has:
- Increased awareness about malaria prevention and control measures among the target communities.
- Encouraged behavior change, with a significant increase in bed net usage and indoor residual spraying.
- Contributed to a reduction in malaria cases in some of the project areas.
We have also established partnerships with local health facilities, ensuring that community members have access to malaria diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care. Your support has not only saved lives but also improved the overall well-being of the communities we serve.
PLANE is deeply grateful for your trust and support. Your contributions have made a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of Ugandans. We remain committed to our mission and look forward to continued partnerships to amplify our impact. Thank you for being part of our journey towards a malaria-free Uganda.
I remain Waddell Steven
