Eight week report on Mahboobin Divorce care for kids recovery program.
Number of kids: Eight kids with ages ranging between 7 and 12.
Each child has a unique situation:
One of them has never seen her father, as he divorced his wife when she was pregnant. Now when the girl is 7 and has never known him, he wants to take her when she turns 12.
Two brothers, ages 10 and 12: their father has a mental illness. When the boys were born, he could not hold them or have anything to do with them The mother had to divorce him for the safety of the boys. These two also, have never seen their father, but they keep dr4eaming that they need a dad. They blame the mother.
Two other brothers, 8 and 12 their father divorced the mother five years ago. The mother works and supports the kids totally. The kids feel very anxious on the days they need to go and visit the father, which happens two to three times a year.
The fourth are a boy of eight and his sister who is 7. They live in a very poor area since the divorce. The boy has psychological issues since the divorce and has become hyperactive and rebellious.
We are eight weeks into the zoom groups.
Asking the kids about why they keep coming back every week, this is what they said:
And yet, meeting with the children every week brings also a lot of heartbreak.
Some of the issues the kids are facing:
The plan is to start two new groups in the month of February. Then two new groups in March, April, May and June.
The two groups in February will be led by two new trainers who were attending with me this group. I trained them last November on leading the DC4K groups (Ma7boobin)
Do sponsor a child to be able to attend the goups for free.
Most of them face financial difficulties becasue of the divorce. Many of the mothers started working after the divorce happened.
Thank you all for making this possible.
