A Ma7boobin (translates Beloved) support group is a safe, fun place where children can learn skills that will help them heal from. Ma7boobin groups blend games, music, stories, videos and discussion to help kids process the divorce and move forward. Groups meet weekly and are designed for children ages 5-12. The session topics help to strengthen children, turning their sadness to hope and their anger to joy. All sessions are led by trained therapists.
No one in Egypt is working with children of divorce. There are no known programs or recovery groups. In some areas in Egypt, divorce can reach up to 46% of children. Children of divorce suffer from feelings of shame and guilt. They suffer from rejection and abandonment. They prefer not to tell their parents about their feelings since they think that their parents have enough problems of their own.
Ma7boobin provides your children with a safe and neutral place to gain an age-appropriate understanding of separation and divorce. They will learn how to process and share their feelings. For 13 weeks children become involved in a fun, caring group that meet on zoom (due to COVID). The weekly session topics help children become strengthened, turn their sadness to hope and their anger to joy.
Connecting with caring leaders and interacting with other children in small group discussions, devotions, and demonstrations helps children better understand their individual situations. Groups help them deal with sadness and anger. It gives them healthy coping skills. It also helps children form healthy relationships and deal with their feelings of guilt and shame.
