Remodel is done plus other news

By Beth Randall | Director

Happy Rescued bunnies
Happy Rescued bunnies

Thanks to everyone's support the remodel of the barn is complete and all the animals have moved in. Many have upgraded living arrangements even.

The rabbits and guinea pigs are still free range but are on fleece blankets instead of shavings, the ferrets have a nice free range room and cinnamon the raccoon has a big open area. Everyone else is all settled in as well.

Sadly, tragically the largest area was supposed to be for the foxes, but we lost both foxes unexpectedly. Tod died of advanced blood cancer, he showed no symnptoms until his las week when he was lethargic and of course we took him to the vet, but he had to be let go. Zorro died suddenly of a stomach malformation that resulted in an intestinal blockage. His was very sudden as well only 2 months after Tod. Animals are very good at hiding their illnesses , it is a survival technique in the wild. We are devastated by the losses.

We do still have little Stevie the blind elderly fennec fox. He is maintaing well on his medications.

We did take in one elderly ratty named Jackie recently, even tho we halted intakes during construction. She had nowhere else to go, so we couldn't say no.

Now the contractor is installing the house wrap and siding to seal up the exterior of the building and make it more efficient to cool and heat.

Since getting the animals out of the house we have thankfully been able to resolve the homeowners insurance issue as well.

We truly appreciate all of our supporters! You are the reason we can continue to save these animals' lives! Thank you!
