Tragedy & Devastation

By Beth Randall | Director

Rambo
Rambo

On Wednesday morning 2-19-20 we had a tragic fire that burned to the ground the newly remodeled she-shed we created for Miss Pearl the pig & Rambo the tortoise.
We greatly thank the good Samaritan who alerted us to the fire and the local German Valley Fire Department for their rapid and thorough response.
The fire is being classified as an accident and as yet there has been no cause determined.
Alex R. heroically saved Pearl, but the flames were too high and smoke too thick to be able to find Rambo and sadly she has gone to the Rainbow Bridge far before her time.
We are devastated to say the least.
(CritterCampmom was only one week post op of her hip replacement at the time and unable to even walk out to the scene safely. It has been an exceptionally painful time, both physically and emotionally)
The building itself is insured and we are in the process of working with the company on the claim.
(Pearl is currently staying in the entryway of the rabbit & guinea pig areas, but may go to an already arranged temporary foster home until we can rebuild her area depending on how long this process is.)
Thank you to everyone for their support during this unimaginably difficult time
