Our Community Girls Club project is going relatively well, we recently decided to maintain the already established clubs and follow on their regular activities.
The activities in the clubs includes;
Sports for development ( we are leveraging sports for social impact), sexual health quiz ( the community girls clubs have utilized quizzes to enhance their sexual reproductive health knowledge), girls rotational loans ( we have introduced a new activity whereby girls are borrowing small amounts of cash to start small businesses like selling sweets during weekends or offering manicure services).
All in all for sustainability purposes, due to lack of funds we are trying our level best to nurture the existing clubs to be self sustaining by offering resources such as books and recruit volunteers as many as possible.
Below is a story about one of our beneficiaries;
Queen joined one of the clubs in Budiriro few months ago , unfortunately she was facing abuse at home but was not able to report to anyone due to threats.After joining the club , she was able to open up and talk about her predicament to one of the volunteers.We acted swiftly and the uncle who was molesting her was arrested and we continue to offer her counseling and psycho-social support.
By continuing receiving support many girls will be assisted to thrive in their lives , particularly those from underprivileged communities.
