Report for the period January 1 – April 30, 2026

Thanks to your continued support, our community center Prostor(i)ja is growing every day into something much more than just a physical space. It is becoming a warm, open and vibrant meeting point where people, ideas, creativity and solidarity come together.

Every month, around 500 citizens of all ages take part in activities organized by 31 civil society organizations working in the fields of human rights, democracy, art and culture, volunteering, inclusion and active citizenship. Behind each number is a person who found a place to learn, connect, create, share experiences or simply feel welcome.

And your donations help make this possible.

What happened in the past few months?

Between January and the end of April, 93 different activities were carried out at Prostor(i)ja, bringing together a total of 2,875 participants. These activities reflected the diversity, energy and needs of our local community. They included:

  • workshops and trainings for youth workers
  • educational and creative workshops for young people
  • youth exchanges, lectures and psychosocial support workshops
  • podcasts, quizzes, chess tournaments, darts training and table tennis
  • education and support activities for people with disabilities
  • expert lectures for different target groups
  • workshops with young people on the management of green areas in Karlovac
  • workshops with foster parents
  • creative workshops and book promotions
  • mental health support activities
  • meetings, networking events and annual assemblies of civil society organizations

Each of these activities contributes in its own way to building a more connected, informed and active community.

Who is behind these activities?

Prostor(i)ja is used by a wide range of organizations, informal groups and citizens, including Carpe Diem Association, Pensioners' Association Karlovac, Burune Groningen Society, Darts Club 4 Rivers, Waldorf School Initiative, Karlovac Chess Club, National Quiz League, Rotary Club Karlovac, Karlovac Developer Group, Women's Group Korak, Young Animal Breeders' Association, Jak kao Jakov Association, Karika Association, Osmica Karlovac, Inner Wheel Club Karlovac, Para-table Tennis Club, Serbian Cultural Society Prosvjeta, technical culture organizations, organizations supporting children and young people with disabilities, youth and environmental initiatives, cultural associations, networks, volunteer groups and many individual citizens.

What makes us especially proud is that more and more civil society organizations are choosing Prostor(i)ja as the place where they can carry out their activities. This clearly shows how much such a community space is needed in our city.

Even with limited financial resources, we continue to do our best to provide a pleasant, inclusive and supportive environment for work, learning, creativity and social connection. We believe that active citizens are the heart of every positive change — and this is exactly why Prostor(i)ja exists: to give people the space, encouragement and opportunity to take part in shaping a better local community.

Your support helps us keep this space open, alive and available to everyone who needs it.

Thank you for believing in our work. Even the smallest donation means a great deal to us — because it helps create a place where people feel welcome, empowered and ready to make a difference.
