Let's give citizens space to act

Youth Exchange "Speak Up, Step Forward"

Thanks to your continuous support, our community center Prostor(i)ja keeps growing into a lively place where people and ideas connect. Each month, around 500 citizens of all ages join activities organized by 36 civil society organizations that promote human rights, democracy, art and culture, volunteering, and active citizenship. Your donations make this possible!

What happened in the past few months?

Between September and end of the year 2025, 60 different activities were carried out at Prostor(i)ja, gathering a total of 2,712 participants. These ranged from:

thematic workshops and trainings for youth workers
thematic workshops for youth
youth exchanges, lectures and sociopsychological workshops,
exhibitions, film screenings, podcasts, quizzes, chess tournaments, darts training, and table tennis,
Educations and support for people with disabilities
Various workshops for the LGTBQI+ community
focus groups with young people on the topic of management of green areas in Karlovac
workshops with foster parents
creative workshops
mental health support workshops
Books promotion
a humanitarian action

Who is behind these activities?

A number of organizations and groups regularly use Prostor(i)ja: Carpe Diem, DrONe, Society of Psychologists, UOSIKAZU, Karlovac Chess Club, Karlovac Developers, Darts club „4 Rivers“, Bruno Gröning Society, Small Animal Breeders Association Champion, Women’s group STEP, Jak kao Jakov, Federation of Associations of Persons with Disabilities in Karlovac County, Pensioners' Association Karlovac, Association for ME, Dysautonomia and Fibromyalgia Sufferers, Cinema Club, Preferans Club Karlovac, Subcommittee of the Serbian Cultural Society "Prosvjeta", Humanitarian Association "Noa i Aneli", Karlovac Pride, Karika Association, Waldorf Initiative Karlovac, Karlovac County Multiple Sclerosis Society, National Quiz League, as well as many individual citizens.

More and more civil society organizations are using the space of the community center for their activities, which shows its need and usefulness for our city. Without sufficient financial support, we still try to provide everyone with a pleasant environment for work and socializing, because only active citizens are ready to change the world. This is exactly the goal of our community center - to enable citizens to be active and create better living conditions in their local community. So thank you, even the smallest help is very important to us.
