Summary
Our mission remains clear: to construct a permanent college building for underprivileged students in Malikpur so they can study in dignity, safety, and with access to proper learning facilities.
While progress toward construction funding has been gradual, the need on ground has only grown more urgent. Hundreds of students—particularly girls—continue to attend classes in open-air environments without laboratories, washrooms, or technology-enabled learning spaces.
At the same time, NUR Foundation has ensured that education itself does not stop. Alongside this infrastructure project, we are actively supporting students through our Adopt-a-Student Program, ensuring continuity of learning while we work toward the larger goal of construction.
Project Snapshot
Total Goal: $35,000
Remaining: $34,605
Donors: 7
Monthly Donors: 0
Project Age: 6 years
The Ongoing Challenge
Students in Malikpur continue to face severe educational disadvantages:
Classes are conducted in open or semi-covered spaces
There is no access to science or computer laboratories
Washroom facilities are extremely limited, impacting dignity—especially for adolescent girls
Rural Punjab continues to face a critical gender education gap, with a majority of girls unable to continue education beyond primary levels
Without proper infrastructure, even the most dedicated students are at risk of dropping out permanently.
The Solution: Infrastructure + Immediate Student SupportCollege Building Construction (Primary Project Goal)
This project will partially fund the construction of a college facility comprising:
7 classrooms
1 science laboratory
1 computer laboratory
1 multipurpose school hall
4 washrooms
This building will create a safe, structured, and modern learning environment essential for intermediate and undergraduate education.
Immediate Impact Through Adopt-a-Student
While infrastructure funding progresses, NUR Foundation is actively ensuring students remain enrolled through its Adopt-a-Student Program, which allows donors to sponsor a child’s education annually.
Through this program:
PKR 20,000/year covers tuition and books
PKR 30,000/year covers tuition, books, uniform, shoes, school bag, and stationery
Students are supported from Montessori through graduation
All essentials are procured directly to ensure transparency and dignity
This approach ensures that no child’s education is paused while buildings are being planned
What We’ve Achieved So Far
Continued uninterrupted education for enrolled students despite infrastructure limitations
Expansion of student sponsorships through community and individual donors
Strengthened monitoring and accountability systems for student welfare
Sustained outreach in Malikpur through the NUR Community Outreach Program (NCOP)
Long-Term Impact
Once fully funded and constructed, the Malikpur college will:
Educate 500+ students annually
Significantly increase female participation in higher education
Improve literacy and employability outcomes in the region
Serve as a scalable model for similar colleges in underdeveloped areas of Lahore and Punjab
In parallel, the Adopt-a-Student initiative ensures immediate, measurable impact—bridging the gap between today’s needs and tomorrow’s infrastructure.
