Project Report | Jun 9, 2026
Build a College for Girls with Us

By Huzaifa Kermani | Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)

Summary

Our mission remains clear: to construct a permanent college building for underprivileged students in Malikpur, so they can study in an environment that is safe, dignified, and equipped for meaningful learning.

While progress toward full construction funding has remained gradual, the need on the ground continues to grow. Students, particularly girls, continue to face the limitations of inadequate educational infrastructure, including open or semi-covered learning spaces, limited washroom access, and the absence of dedicated science, computer, and multipurpose learning facilities.

Education cannot wait for perfect conditions. That is why, alongside this long-term construction goal, NUR Foundation continues to support students through its wider education and sponsorship efforts, including the Adopt-a-Student Program. This ensures that children continue learning while we work toward the larger goal of building permanent infrastructure.

As of this reporting cycle, the project remains a vital bridge between today’s urgent needs and tomorrow’s permanent solution: a purpose-built college facility for students who deserve opportunity, dignity, and hope.

Project Snapshot

  • Total Goal: $35,000
  • Remaining: $34,605
  • Donors: 7
  • Monthly Donors: 0
  • Project Age: 6 years

The Ongoing Challenge

Students in Malikpur continue to face severe educational disadvantages because of limited infrastructure. For many children, especially girls, the absence of proper facilities becomes a barrier not only to learning, but to retention, confidence, and long-term continuation of education.

Current challenges include:

  • Classes being conducted in open or semi-covered spaces
  • No access to properly equipped science laboratories
  • No access to computer laboratories or technology-enabled learning
  • Limited washroom facilities, affecting dignity and attendance, especially for adolescent girls
  • Insufficient space for structured academic and co-curricular activities
  • High risk of dropout among students who cannot transition safely into higher levels of education

Without proper infrastructure, even motivated students and committed teachers are forced to work within severe limitations. These gaps are especially damaging at the intermediate and undergraduate levels, where laboratories, technology access, privacy, and a structured campus environment become essential.

For girls in rural and peri-urban communities, the lack of safe and dignified facilities can become the deciding factor between continuing education and leaving school altogether.

The Solution: Infrastructure + Immediate Student Support1. College Building Construction

Primary Project Goal

This project will partially fund the construction of a permanent college facility in Malikpur. The proposed building is designed to provide students with the basic academic infrastructure required for dignified and effective learning.

The proposed facility will include:

  • 7 classrooms
  • 1 science laboratory
  • 1 computer laboratory
  • 1 multipurpose school hall
  • 4 washrooms

This building will create a safe, structured, and modern learning environment for students who currently face significant educational limitations. It will also help strengthen the pathway from school to college-level education, particularly for girls who are often the first to drop out when facilities are inadequate.

2. Immediate Impact Through Adopt-a-Student

Ongoing Support While Construction Funding Progresses

While fundraising for the building continues, NUR Foundation remains committed to ensuring that education does not stop. Through the Adopt-a-Student Program, donors can sponsor a child’s education and help cover essential learning needs.

Through this program:

  • PKR 20,000 per year supports tuition and books
  • PKR 30,000 per year supports tuition, books, uniform, shoes, school bag, and stationery
  • Students are supported from Montessori through graduation
  • Essential items are procured directly to ensure transparency and dignity
  • Support continues while infrastructure needs are being addressed

This parallel approach ensures that students are not left behind while the larger infrastructure dream is being built.

Progress Since the Last Report1. Continued Education Despite Infrastructure Limitations

Status: Ongoing

Since the January 2026 reporting cycle, education support has continued despite the lack of adequate infrastructure. Students remain engaged through existing learning arrangements, while the need for a permanent building remains a key priority.

Result:

Learning has continued, but the limitations of the current environment reinforce the urgency of constructing a permanent college building. Students need facilities that match their ambition and support their academic growth.

2. Sustained Focus on Girls’ Education

Status: Ongoing

The project continues to place strong emphasis on supporting girls’ access to higher education. In communities where girls often face social, cultural, and safety-related barriers, proper infrastructure is not a luxury. It is a requirement for continuity.

Result:

The need for classrooms, washrooms, laboratories, and a secure learning environment remains directly linked to girls’ retention and progression into higher education.

3. Student Sponsorship as a Bridge Strategy

Status: Strengthened

While construction funding progresses, the Adopt-a-Student Program continues to provide an immediate pathway for donors to support education. This allows donors to create direct impact even before the building is fully funded.

Result:

Student sponsorship continues to help protect access to education by covering essential needs such as tuition, books, uniforms, shoes, school bags, and stationery.

4. Continued Outreach Through NUR Community Outreach Program

Status: Ongoing

NUR Foundation continues to maintain its presence in underprivileged communities through the NUR Community Outreach Program (NCOP). This outreach remains essential for identifying educational needs, supporting students, and engaging families around the value of continued education.

Result:

Community-level engagement has helped sustain trust, encourage student continuity, and reinforce the importance of education as a long-term route out of poverty.

What We’ve Achieved So Far

  • Continued uninterrupted education for enrolled students despite infrastructure limitations
  • Maintained focus on the construction of a permanent college building in Malikpur
  • Expanded awareness around the importance of safe educational infrastructure
  • Continued student support through sponsorship and education assistance
  • Strengthened donor understanding of both immediate and long-term education needs
  • Sustained outreach in Malikpur through NCOP
  • Continued emphasis on girls’ education, dignity, and retention

Learning and Adaptation

This reporting cycle has reinforced several important lessons:

  • Infrastructure is central to retention, especially for girls.
  • Education support must continue even while construction fundraising remains in progress.
  • Student sponsorship creates immediate impact while long-term infrastructure goals are pursued.
  • Washrooms, laboratories, and safe classrooms are not secondary facilities; they directly affect attendance, dignity, and learning outcomes.
  • Community trust is essential for keeping students, especially girls, connected to education.
  • Donors need clear pathways to support both construction and student continuity.

These lessons continue to guide the project’s direction and communication with donors.

Long-Term Impact

Once fully funded and constructed, the Malikpur college building will create a long-term educational asset for the community.

The completed facility is expected to:

  • Educate 500+ students annually
  • Increase female participation in higher education
  • Improve access to science and computer education
  • Strengthen literacy and employability outcomes in the region
  • Provide students with a safer and more dignified learning environment
  • Support retention at intermediate and undergraduate levels
  • Serve as a scalable model for similar education projects in underdeveloped areas of Lahore and Punjab

In parallel, the Adopt-a-Student initiative continues to ensure immediate and measurable impact by supporting students today while the infrastructure of tomorrow is being developed.

Together, these two approaches create a complete education pathway: immediate student support and long-term institutional infrastructure.

Our Track Record

  • Serving underprivileged communities through education initiatives since 1985
  • 18,000+ students supported through education initiatives
  • Commitment to 100% free education for enrolled students
  • Strong focus on dignity, sustainability, and long-term outcomes
  • Continued support through NUR Foundation and the NUR Community Outreach Program

Why Your Support Matters Now

The need for the Malikpur college building remains urgent. Students continue to study without the full facilities required for higher education, and the lack of infrastructure continues to place girls at particular risk of discontinuing education.

Your support matters now because:

  • A permanent building will protect continuity of education
  • Girls need safe and dignified facilities to remain enrolled
  • Science and computer laboratories are essential for modern learning
  • Washroom access directly affects dignity, attendance, and retention
  • Purpose-built classrooms improve academic focus and confidence
  • Every delay increases the risk that students may drop out permanently

Every contribution brings the community closer to a permanent college building.

Next 90-Day Plan

Over the next quarter, we will focus on:

  • Continuing donor outreach for the college construction fund
  • Strengthening communication around the urgency of girls’ education in Malikpur
  • Highlighting the proposed building components and their direct impact
