Clouds and Rain are God's Creations

Many of us thought that getting out of the year 2020 would be the solution. We will always remember 2020 as the covid-19, social unrest, closures, the year of not getting anything done. The year that our jobs and lifestyles became more digital. We learned where the wifi had the strongest signals in our homes. We learn how to socialize via zoom and still keep in touch with our loved ones. Here we are now. People all over the world still are fighting against the pandemic. We are all doing our best despite the rising numbers of covid-19.
In Haiti, we are also fighting with covid-19. We are in our second wave. We are not only fighting covid-19, we are also living in a period of political unrest. Haiti is in a state of level 4 Security Alert. This is affecting our daily lives. Since we live up in the mountains, many roads would be blocked by rioters. It makes it more difficult for the water trucks to go up to God’s Littlest Angels. Despite all of these challenges, we are doing our best just like all of our lovely donors.
Time waits for no one and now it is the time for us to work together to have a better environment. We should not forget that God is our provider. Lately, it has been raining daily. We are definitely in Haiti’s rainy season. We are able to save a little bit more water. This is such a blessing for GLA. God also sent many of you to help us in our cause and projects and it is also a blessing. Thank you for donating your time in the cyber world to help us provide clean water for our sweet children.
"Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who provides rain for the earth, Who makes grass to grow on the mountains." Psalm 147:8.

God is Omnipresent

We will always remember 2020 as the year of the pandemic. The pandemic affected everyone around the world. Many people were going through tough times. We had to learn how to live in a socially responsible way by wearing masks, avoiding public gatherings, homeschooling, staying in touch with our loved ones via the internet and being isolated during lockdown periods.
“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
—Lamentations 3:21-23
At God’s Littlest Angels our children and staff had to go through these changes in their lives. We are thankful because God’s love for God’s Littlest Angels never ceased during that time. During this pandemic, we have implemented more strict protocols for washing hands and essential supplies as they are bought and brought into GLA. We are doing what we can to make sure the infants, kids, and employees at GLA are safe and healthy. By God’s grace and through the generous support of partners like you we were able to keep going through it all, ensuring that our children had clean water to bathe, to drink, to cook with, to mix formula, and to wash clothes. Thank you!

School is back in session

Our water tank
During Isolation the children would wake up, shower and spend the day outdoors. Outdoors during isolation was staying in front of their houses and spend some time at the playground. We made sure that they were active. They would have a fun exercising class at 10:30 am, play hide and seek and even jump rope. After all that sweating and jumping around they would always drink a lot of water.
They spent about two months without going to school. When we saw that quarantine was looking more definitive then temporary, two of our teachers decided to stay with us and work with a modified schedule.
We were lucky enough in Haiti that there was not a huge outbreak. Up to today we only have about 8000 cases of covid-19 since the initial lock down of the country. The biggest issue is that us dollars went up in Haiti. To the point that $1 us was equal to 120 gourdes. So things got more expensive for all the consumers. The prices of the water trucks and the prices for buying gallons of drinking water went up to 40%. Even after the dollar went down after the lock down, the sellers are still not adjusting their prices. Everything is still expensive because we buy all of our essentials in gourdes.
After a few months of monitoring the current situation in Haiti, our executive director decided that GLA would be back in session. School was back in session! The children are so happy because all of the teachers are back. They were excited to be able to learn and discover new things in class again. We are open and functioning as usual. All of our employees are back.
