Summary

Two of the most common causes of infant death in Haiti are diarrhea and vomiting. Both of those, along with cholera, are caused and spread by water born infections. Clean water is the best way to prevent these illnesses. Help us keep our orphans healthy by providing them with clean water to drink.

Challenge

Clean water is a rare and valuable commodity in Haiti. The leading killer of children in Haiti is water born infections - infections that would, in a first world country, be completely preventable. Access to clean water is one of the building blocks to good health. If you give a child in Haiti access to clean water, it opens up the possibility to a life and a future, a future free of disease and a future full of promise. Help us provide our children with good health and a future.

Solution

The water that we use has to be brought in by truck. Even then, one drink of it would make you sick for 2 days. This project will not only make sure that we have enough water but will also cover the cost of running a major water treatment system that will make the water as healthy or healthier than the water available in the first world countries. Giving the kids clean water gives them a chance to have a future.

Long-Term Impact

Providing clean water for the children at our orphanage will truly give them a chance. A chance to overcome the struggles that they face. A chance to recover from malnutrition. A chance to live a healthy life. A chance to be free of disease. The children in Haiti face so many more challenges than children in First World countries do. Having access to clean water gives the children in our orphanage a brighter future.
