Clean Water for 100 Communities in Ghana

OVERVIEW

This reporting period focuses on continued monitoring of completed water projects, community engagement, and expanding water education efforts. While no new donations or major funding were received during this period, the project has remained active through field visits and community outreach to ensure sustainability of existing interventions.

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

1. Monitoring of Existing Water Systems
The team continued regular follow-ups on previously implemented mechanized borehole systems. These visits confirm that water systems remain functional, stable, and continue to provide uninterrupted access to clean water for beneficiary communities.

A key visit was conducted at the Akramaman community project site, where systems are fully operational and water accessibility has significantly improved. The community now enjoys consistent and reliable water supply, reducing past challenges of scarcity.

2. Community Water Education – Ga South Municipality
The team also extended its outreach to a new community in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. During this visit, students were educated on the importance of  water, hygiene practices, and the importance of being responsible stewards of water resources. This engagement aimed to build awareness and long-term behavioural change among young people.

• Communities with existing boreholes continue to experience stable and uninterrupted water access.
• Households report improved daily living conditions due to reliable water availability.
• Students engaged during outreach sessions demonstrated strong interest in water conservation and environmental responsibility.

CHALLENGES

• No new funding was received during the reporting period, limiting expansion activities.
• Resource constraints continue to affect the scaling of new community interventions.

CONCLUSION

Despite financial limitations, the project remains active and impactful through monitoring, maintenance, and community education. Ensuring sustainability of existing water systems remains a key priority, alongside ongoing efforts to strengthen awareness on water stewardship among young people.

The team remains committed to expanding access to clean water and deepening community engagement as new funding and partnership opportunities are explored.
