Dear Supporters of Mercy In Action's Claudia Booker Memorial Midwife Scholarship,
Besides supporting Mercy In Action College of Midwifery students with full scholarships for their final two years of midwifery school, this project also supports midwives who are taking their final step into becoming Certified Professional Midwives (CPM) by granting them a scholarship to our Mercy In Action Online NARM Study Course, a valuable course that preps midwife students for their board exams.
Our scholarships were created to be strategic in saving lives in pregnancy and childbirth. To qualify for a Mercy In Action Claudia Booker Memorial Midwife Scholarship, the applicant must be a midwife student from one of the demographic communities that loses the most babies and mothers at birth in America - the Black/African American and Native American/Alaska Native populations. Claudia helped create our scholarship program and framework, which was named after her when she passed away in 2020.
In 2024, so far, Mercy In Action College of Midwifery has awarded 15 Online NARM Study Course scholarships. They are valued at $499 per course, and they make a big impact on those who receive them. CPM candidates report that this online course, designed to be individually tailored to each learner, gave them new knowledge and real confidence to take the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) exam and pass it the first time!
In this report, we want to feature four hopeful CPM candidates who were awarded this scholarship. Keyana, Nikkea, SciHonor, and Divine have all been given the best chance to pass their midwifery board exam thanks to your generosity in supporting this project.
Please tell your friends about this great scholarship project in honor of the late Claudia Booker, who was a friend and inspiration to many. Mercy In Action is still paying for the majority of our scholarships from our own operating budget, and we could use many more donors to this GlobalGiving project to help more deserving midwifery students in the future. Let us hear from you soon!
Blessings,
The Mercy In Action College of Midwifery team
