Dear Friends,
We have started another semester of learning at Mercy in Action College of Midwifery, and we are delighted to introduce you to a new scholarship recipient, Candyce.
She has been in the mentoring track prior to being awarded this scholarship, and she is now entering her fourth-year as a student. While in school, Candyce is also a Medi-Cal-approved full-spectrum doula who is passionate about supporting families, especially those who are very young or overlooked. Last year, for her community service project (a requirement in our college), she developed recipes for special soaps and gifted them to families. She now continues to create handcrafted, herb-infused soaps for families during pregnancy, postpartum, labor, and for newborns. Candyce has a heart to go above and beyond routine care for clients, with a desire that every person receives respectful care.
Your generosity to the Claudia Booker Memorial Scholarship fund allows us to award Candyce and other deserving students an academic scholarship. Candyce and the other recipients are getting closer to achieving their goals of becoming midwives who provide safe and respectful care to all families, especially those whose mothers and babies are most at risk.
With gratitude,
Jenny Fox
