We are pleased to report that recipients of the Claudia Booker Memorial Midwife Scholarship are beginning their third year of our Bachelor of Science in Midwifery program. Two recent recipients, Gezelle and Lavondria, like all our scholarship students, have been guided and encouraged by Mercy In Action's Scholarship Coordinator, who sets them up for success by holding monthly live mentoring meetings and providing accountability to their studies. Many prospective midwives take advantage of our Mentoring Track for Black and Indigenous students in our college.
Claudia Booker, who this scholarship is named after, was the Grand Challenge Coordinator for Mercy In Action College of Midwifery’s scholarship program at the time of her death in early 2020. Claudia envisioned and created the Mentoring Track. Now that role has been passed on to a graduate of our program, Sumayya, and we are proud to offer this memorial scholarship in Claudia’s name, and to continue the Mentoring Track in her honor.
All the staff at Mercy In Action College of Midwifery, and all the students who benefit, are grateful beyond words for you, our donors, who help many aspiring midwives to become CPM's and Licensed Midwives to serve their own communities.
