Chikumbuso's Challenge

Lunch Line
The Chikumbuso School is back in session after a one month holiday. Our students are thrilled to be back together not only for learning but also for the school's lunch program! Chikumbuso offers a free lunch program to all students within the center. This is approximatedly 400 lunches per day. As you well know the cost of food has gone up tremendously and here in Lusaka it has more than doubled. This is an expense not only for the school but for the families of our students who are already struggling to make ends meet. (Our students are mainly orphans being kept by their extended families who live in Ng'ombe Compound, a struggling slum in Lusaka).
Please help us with our Monthly food budget so that we can continue to help our students and their families. It is impossible to learn when you are not eating.
Thank you so much

Back At The Center for A New and Adventurous School Year!

Grade Five
The year 2023 sounds like a Sci Fi adventure to me yet to our students at Chikumbuso the new year brings with it a gift, not of lasers and spaceships but a gift that many cannot afford. It is the opportunity to attend school free of charge, to be given books and uniforms and to be fed on a daily basis. This is not the norm here in Zambia, it is an extraordinary blessing.
We are so thankful to all of you who support our Classroom Sponsorship program. Chikumbuso has started the new school year with full classrooms and a few overflowing classrooms! (It is so difficult to send students away who are looking for a place in our community center.) We could not run our classrooms, pay our teachers or feed the students with out your help.
Thank you and may you have a blessed 2023.

Our Women Who Run The Project
Dear Friends,
Did you know that Chikumbuso is more than a school?
Did you know that we are more than just 500 students in class and 100+ in college?
In the past 18 years we have grown considerably and now we are educating and changing the lives of over 600 students who would never otherwise gone to school. We have fed them and clothed them, now many are out in the workforce.
Yet we also do more!
- We house 18 girls in a Safe Haven, caring for their every need.
- We have a youth micro enterprise project where tailoring skills are taught and a workshop brings in a livelihood. Chikumbuso has trained over 300 youth and single moms.
- We have a widows micro enterprise where beautiful bags and other items are crocheted by these women who have become professionals.
- Chikumbuso supports and feeds 18 grandmothers in their homes and sends caregivers to watch over them.
And you are a part of all of this! Thank you for your regular support and faithfulness to our projects.
