Hi Friends!
I am excited to tell you about how our project that you have all supported and hence a part of is going so far. We had a generous visit from Ms Ghosh who is a member of GlobalGiving India's Field Visit Team on Saturday June 10th. Their work is to make sure that the projects listed in GlobalGiving are true and really making a difference in the lives of people as proclaimed. She had a great discussion with our organization secretary during which many topics such as funding and challenges faced were discussed. She also met with our current teacher to learn of the courses that are being taught.
Other than computer training classes, the school has become a safe meeting place for many deaf women who come there regularly. It is so evident how much they are willing to become a part of a community they feel they belong to instead of being isolated and lonely which is sadly the instance today for most of them in Kolkata.
The annual general meeting was held in July 23rd where the school progress plan was discussed. One of the issues discussed in the meeting was increasing the number of students currently attending the school. It is becoming imperative to hire a high qualified teacher who can impart more advanced knowledge to the deaf students. We are currently on the lookout for such a teacher who can teach for a couple of hours for two days every week. The teacher we have currently teaches basic computer courses to the students and our goal is to go above and beyond that so students can get more value out of their time spent here.
My heartfelt thanks to the recurring donors, your donation helps to run the school on a daily basis and makes sure we keep continuing on our journey! Thank you very much.
Best Regards!
