On track to place over 300 dogs

By Bob Bunger | National Director of Development Services

It is officially autumn, and this fall promises to be eventful for Canine Companions for Independence.

Team Training classes will be held throughout the fall, including a first-time class of veterans with PTSD - part of our pilot program, that is being launched at Canine Companions Headquarters and Northwest Regional Center, located in Santa Rosa, CA. In addition to that Team Training, we'll hold Hearing Dog classes, as well as classes that will include Skilled Companions, Facility and Service Dogs.

We are on track to place over 300 assistance dogs for the fourth consecutive year, and by the end of the year anticipate that the all-time number of placements will reach, and possibly exceed 6,000 teams.

In addition to Team Trainings, DogFests will be held throughout the nation. Other special events include golf tournaments, the annual SE Region Gala in Orlando, and Haute Dog. Our outreach and fundraising events are open to the public, and we hope that you'll participate if there is an event where you live. To learn of upcoming events, visit our website cci.org.

Our Miller Family Campus celebrates its 10-year anniversary, and at the Schulz Campus, we'll break ground on a new training building, specifically designed for students with PTSD.

Because of the support that we receive, Canine Companions highly trained assistance dogs are provided free of charge to recipients. Thank you for helping make our work possible.
