With nearly five months of the year in the books, Canine Companions is experiencing another strong year. With over 150 assistance dog placements to date, Canine Companions will exceed 300 placements in 2019 - the fifth consecutive year that the organization has placed over 300 dogs. And, all dogs are placed with recipients free of charge. In addition, Canine Companions provides follow-up services free of charge for the life of the partnership.
Canine Companions is also improving and expanding our facilities. Earlier this spring, ground was broken on a new campus that will be located in New Albany, Ohio. This new facility will be the home of the North Central Region of Canine Companions, and will replace the existing facility that is in Delaware, Ohio.
In Santa Rosa, California, home of our headquarters and Northwest Region, a new training building, designed to serve students with PTSD will be completed very soon. This new building provides critical training space that is needed as Canine Companions serves more people with disabilities.
As summer arrives, so too do a number of special events ranging from DogFests to galas to golf tournaments. These events will raise awareness of and funds for the organization.
Canine Companions also will hold numerous Team Training classes and graduation ceremonies throughout the remainder of the year. With the support we receive, more lives will be enhanced by highly trained assistance dogs. Graduation ceremonies are free and open to the public. Please do attend a graduation ceremony to witness how your support makes a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
