Project Update Report – "Butterfly Effect"

Women and Child Rehabilitation Center – Kafr Takharim
TAALUF HUMANITAIRE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION
Report Date: 25 February 2026

1. Introduction

Since the launch of the Butterfly Effect project, significant steps have been taken toward empowering women in northern Syria by providing them with vocational training in sewing at the Women and Child Rehabilitation Center in Kafr Takharim. This report serves as an official update highlighting the funding status, equipment readiness, and the current situation of the women shortlisted for the training program.

2. Current Funding Status

According to the initial report issued on 28-09-2025, a total of $156 USD had been collected at the early stage of the project.
With the latest update, the total donations have reached

Total Donations to Date: $256 USD

Total Project Goal: $10,000 USD

The project remains in urgent need of $9,744 USD to reach the required funding target, allowing for the launch of training activities and covering operational, logistical, and material costs.

3. Status of Equipment at the Center

All sewing equipment remains available at the center, including:

  • Stitching and overlock sewing machines
  • Electric cutting scissors
  • Ironing equipment
  • Cutting table
  • Sterilization device
  • Additional supporting tools

Most equipment is ready for use, with some requiring minor maintenance to ensure optimal performance during the training phase.

4. Women Shortlisted for the Training Program

Over the past period, the project team engaged with targeted women in Kafr Takharim and surrounding areas, conducting initial needs assessments to ensure the selection of the most eligible beneficiaries.

Main Categories of Candidates:

  • Widows and female heads of households
  • Displaced women who lost their sources of income
  • Women motivated to learn sewing to start home-based microbusinesses

A preliminary list of names has been prepared and will be officially confirmed once the required funding is secured.

5. General Project Progress

Based on the previous report, the project has made progress in foundational activities, including:

  • Launching logistical preparations
  • Developing vocational training curriculum
  • Conducting individual assessments for targeted women
  • Beginning maintenance of essential equipment
  • Strengthening community outreach

Despite this progress, funding shortages remain the main barrier preventing the official launch of the training program.

6. Current Challenges

  1. Insufficient funding compared to the required target
  2. Need for minor equipment maintenance
  3. High demand for the program compared to current operational capacity
  4. Difficult humanitarian conditions in the region, increasing the urgency of launching the project

7. Recommendations

  1. Intensify fundraising efforts through international platforms (notably GlobalGiving)
  2. Launch a digital outreach campaign to increase project visibility
  3. Consider starting a simplified training phase once at least 20% of the goal is reached
  4. Continue updating beneficiary lists and reassessing needs
  5. Document human-interest stories to motivate potential donors

8. Conclusion

The Butterfly Effect project remains a vital initiative in our efforts to empower women and provide sustainable income pathways. With total donations reaching only $256 USD, we reaffirm that every contribution today directly impacts the lives of women in northern Syria.

We call on partners, donors, and supporters to help us achieve the funding target so we can launch the training as soon as possible.
