Fundacion ProEmpleo celebrates 30 years of challenging the limits of entrepreneurship in Mexico. For this reason, we have proposed with this project to train in entrepreneurship and accompany 15 people who today live with some social or economic disadvantage and want to start or improve a business in this country to help them break the entrepreneurship myths.
Poor education and vocational training, next to a lack of opportunities, limit many people from entering the formal labor market. Entrepreneurship has increasingly become the solution to combat unemployment. Unfortunately, most people who want to become entrepreneurs or are already starting lack the knowledge and skills to deal with the business's administration, financial challenges, and operation. As a result, their micro-enterprises are at high risk of failing.
We know that micro and small enterprises generate 78% of formal jobs in Mexico. We will train 15 people with a business idea or a micro-enterprise they want to improve. We will be able to empower them economically, allowing them to acquire knowledge to manage, operate, activate their business ideas, or strengthen their microenterprise in the short term, creatively facing obstacles and turning them into leaders, generators of jobs, and mutual support within their communities.
We will transform the lives of entrepreneurs and their communities through economic empowerment: the ability of people to progress economically and make decisions, becoming agents of economic and social change in their communities that drive sustainable development. Based on our impact evaluations, this project can indirectly impact 30 people, meaning economic and social benefits for 45 people.
