Over 40 Young Women Trained in Various Skills

By Nkem Akinsoto | Project Leader

In Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa state, we provided vocational training to 42 unemployed youths and women, including recent school dropouts, to enhance employ ability and provide a skilled foundation to build them a business, therefore reducing levels of unemployment.

This project was completed successfully, and accomplished all set goals, with proven track records. The class-based vocational skills training and practicals included baking, hat and wig making, ankara fashion accessories, etc. On the final day, students exhibited their work which was showcased on local media.

Following up to this project, and to strengthen our expertise for promoting community-led action towards meeting sustainable development goals at the grassroots level, we have now partnered with Street Business School (SBS) to add an entrepreneurial education program to our portfolio.

With your support, and our experience, expertise and infrastructure, the idea behind this project can be scaled up and implemented in four locations. We are completely confident that the already validated SBS curriculum will reduce poverty and increase employment opportunities for all participants.
