Candidates from Kachiuru primary school who sat for their final exams last year and performed quite well were lucky to get sponsorship from various well-wishers and all of them joined different high schools in Meru County.  Necofa together with our partner Friends of Kenya Schools and Wildlife (FKSW) were able to offer scholarship to one student from the area by the name Naomi Ntinyari where we will be supporting 80% of her school fees every term. The girls was from Kachiuru primary school.   Parents from this school were very happy to see their children join high school and especially the girl child.  Educating girl child from this region is slowly being taken positively and literate parents are really encouraging the community to consider educating their girls.

The school kitchen project was successfully finished and it is now in use and the feeding programme is proceeding on well and attracting more children from the village to join the school.  The headteacher has reported that the school population is growing and they are looking forward for more development.  They currently have few permanent classrooms and they are still fundraising for more classrooms and desks to improve on current learning environment.  We thank our partners and all well-wishers for their noble support towards Kachiuru Primary School.

We are happy to report that we managed to renovate Kachiuru primary school latrines and they are serving the pupils quite well despite being few. Together with our partners, we were able to fundraise for renovation of the pit latrines and this has improved on conducive learning environment. We are also happy to report that Kachiuru pupils sat for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E) for their first time in the school history and more so one of the scholarships beneficiary girl was leading with 338 marks out of possible 500 marks. This was so encouraging considering that the community was heavily affected by tribal crashes between October and November 2015 when the candidates were preparing to sit for their final exams in November. The performance was a good starting point and the candidate set a nice starting point for the other pupils behind her. The other candidates also performed fairly in the final exams as majority got 280 marks and above. We really encourage parents and well wishers to consider supporting the school for better future of our children.
Together with our partners, we are in the process of rehabilitant the school kitchen and currently the work is on-going and in 2 weeks time the kitchen will be ready for use. At the moment the school has been cooking on open air place thank to our partners for supporting the kitchen project. We take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed towards success of Kachiuru primary school and we encourage them to continue supporting the school for more success.

The progress in Kachiuru is very encouraging. A lot has been done in this school and a lot of development put in place thus giving the school a new look. Although there are some challenges, the community really appreciates the milestone so far. Some of the major challenges at the moment are school kitchen and pit latrines. The school kitchen is in bad shape and too small considering the increased number of the school population. Pit latrines for the pupils are not very few to serve the increased number of pupils and among the few, they still require renovation work. The school community is at the moment working towards renovating the few they have as they work towards resource mobilization to dig more. They have prioritized that need first thus putting a side construction of the classroom. We are assisting them in fundraising for this initiative and we welcome our well wishers and partners to support the Kachiuru School. We thank all those who have contributed towards this school development. May God Bless you all even as you consider giving a hand for more projects in Kachiuru.

The progress in Kachiuru is good and the school community have reasons to smile as our partners from U.S supported the school in purchasing school furniture especially for the teachers who lacked these furniture for some time, they were able to get office desks, cabinets chairs and desks to create good working environment for the teachers who are now working extra hours to cover the class syllabuses and to cater for the increased number of pupils in the school. The teachers now have a spacious furnished office. Feeding program is going on well and the school committee still sourcing funds for a classroom which has already been started. They hope to have it completed next year if all goes well in their fundraising as they expect more pupils to join the school next year. They are very grateful for the milestone so far and they thank all the well wishers who have supported them to this far.

The progress in Kachiuru School has been very good in the last term as reported by the Head teacher Mr. Samuel Mutambari. He reported that the school term was very good and Kachiuru girls were very excited after receiving sanitary towels provided by our partners Friends of Kenya Schools and Wildlife (FKSW) in January this year. The teacher reported that there were no cases of girls absenteeism during their monthly periods unlike previously. The teachers and the parents were very happy with this initiative of supporting the girls with the towels and they thank them for considering their girls. Feeding program was also successful during the term despite the prolonged drought in the region. They were able to continue with the feeding program throughout the term and again they thank their supporters. The school borehole has been very effective and especially during the dry periods, it has been very effective to the school and the neighboring communities and this has also contributed to the success of the school feeding program. The school population has increased this year and the earlier plan of building more classrooms and providing desks is still very ideal. The school management decided to construct a temporary classroom in January this year after school enrolled more pupils. They are organizing for a fundraising to source funds for putting up more classrooms. We wish them all the best and encourage our well-wishers to consider giving a hand in this to support this needy community.
