The construction project is more than ever about to begin. But some administrative delays drag things on. The building permit is not yet delivered and without it, we can not begin the slightest work. And meanwhile, we have received a donation from the company ADDAX PETROLEUM, from Christian Bassogog and from Mr Ravi Kumar of DANGOTE CEMENT CAMEROON Company.

It took a lot of fighting so far to achieve this result; even if it is not won yet. This project was born in 2015. This required a lot of effort, to investigate and find a plot of land that could house the project. During a visit of the members of our main French partner, we even did some research together. After finding a suitable land, our partner mobilized the funds so that we could acquire it. Subsequently, there was a question of legalizing the documents for obtaining the land title. Things continued with the establishment of plans and the filing of grant files. It took time, but today we are getting closer and closer to our dream that day by day becomes a reality.

In our quest for funds for the completion of our construction project, we approached many companies, including ADDAX PETROLEUM. The company showed interest in the project, and decided to support in the construction estimate, the amount of the sum reserved for the electrification of the new building. This amounting to 5,000 000 FCFA.

Cameroonian international footballer Christian Bassagog, CAN's best player 2017, paid a visit to the AGAPE Center on December 24th. He came with many provisions and necessities for the sake of the youth of the AGAPE Center. And when he heard about the construction project of the new AGAPE Center, he promised to offer the sum of 5,000,000 FCFA as his participation in this project.

On December 24, Mr. Ravi promised one million FCFA for the building project of the new AGAPE Center. And 3 days later, he brought an advance of 500,000 FCFA.

We have already received two donations. Some are still in the promise state, and others are still being analyzed for feasibility. We are patient, we are waiting for you and count on you.

Thank you all and Happy New Year 2019!!!

Fund raising online launched by Oceane
Fund raising online launched by Oceane

Things are moving more and more in favor of the construction project. After the issuance of the land title, the work of updating the detailed plans of the future house was started. This is how Océane launched a fund raising online, we received a large donation and the application for the building permit is about to be deposited.

Océane came to spend two weeks of vacation in Cameroon, has contributed to the development of youth AGAPE Center. This through her attention and some exits. She also managed to set up a fund raising online for the first two stages of the construction project for the future AGAPE Center. But it has not grown much since opening. Here is the link: https://www.leetchi.com/c/agape-douala-construction-dun-centre-de-vie-pour-les-enfants-de-rues, through which you could donate, or guide friends and acquaintances who would like to do so, to support the project. We are counting on you. Océane also wishes to continue helping young people, the association and the AGAPE Center as much as possible.

The AGAPE association and the SOLENCA association continue to work together with determination, for the realization of this construction project of the new AGAPE Center which, day after day, takes more shape. This is by mobilizing resource persons, by raising the awareness of local people and business men to support this initiative. A philanthropist who wishes to remain anonymous, showed her wonderful support for the project by offering the equivalent of the sum of 17 million FCFA. This is an important sum that will boost the project. But we always need your help and support, whatever the form, according to your possibilities (labor, supply of construction equipment: cement, sand and gravel trucks, iron bars, ducts, electric cables , supply and sewage pipes, equipment necessary for the installation).

The application for the building permit will be deposited at the beginning of October. We are also working on the preparation of a cocktail, for the presentation of the project, to raise awareness and bring potential donors to participate in it. And according to our forecasts, if all goes well as we hope, we will be able to proceed to the laying ceremony of the foundation stone during the month of November.

Land title of the AGAPE association
Land title of the AGAPE association

Since the beginning of AGAPE, the management team has a long-term vision of this project. That of being able to settle on one's own site, and quietly carry out its activities until the success of its residents. This project is no longer a mere sight of the mind, but something that is gradually taking shape.

After a long waiting time, the land title of the piece of land jointly purchased by the AGAPE association and the SOLENCA association, for the construction of the future AGAPE Center, is finally available. It is with a great joy that we welcomed this news at the end of May. We believe this will further accelerate our construction project.

We are currently following the procedures to obtain a building permit. But we still rely heavily on you, your help and your support. Because we also know that together, we will succeed in changing and transforming lives.

BENEFICIAL LIFE insurance
BENEFICIAL LIFE insurance

Since we bought a piece of land of 1500 m², AGAPE association has been try any possible means to have financial support, for the construction of the new center. The association is been help by our main partner, the association Solenca, who has really contributed to this task. This association carries out many activities in France and has deposit many grant application, and have had some positive answers.

Concerning AGAPE association, she is really struggling. But these entire outcomes did not decrease the motivation of the team. On the contrary it pushes us to move forward. As an example, we were able to obtain rendez-vous with four companies, from which we are waiting positive answers, because they really appreciate the project and one of those companies called BENEFICIAL LIFE, has given a sum of 2 500 000 XAF for the building project.

We are also waiting the answers of some cement companies where we drop some demand. Their support will be for a great help to this project. While waiting to acquire the amount needed, we have started the approach for the building licence. Once acquired, with the means gather already, we can now started the construction before the end of this year.

Visits, donations and dinners of Dangote workers
Visits, donations and dinners of Dangote workers

The fourth and last quarter of 2017 at the AGAPE Center, was marked by a few events including: school work and assistance with volunteers, the visits, donations and dinners with a small community of Indian working at Dangote Cement Company, the realization of a short film in the continuity of the project “Palabres”, visit of the Esperanza boat of the NGO Green Peace, donors and their precious support, the cinema with Antonina, awareness campaign about drugs organized by Lions Clubs "Abeilles", first term results, the end of year festivities, AGAPE's fourth participation in the “art dans la rue” event “Noël des petits créateurs” 2017 edition.

The school has taken back its rights, and depending on their availability, volunteers continue to support youth after class. Corinne for French lessons and Emilia for English. For other lessons and homework, the young continue to be assisted by the workers.

Dangote workers wanted to donate to institute which care of vulnerable. After, they expressed the desire to meet them. This small group that arrived at AGAPE was quickly seized by the welcome and friendliness of the center and its young people. This resulted in repeated visits, accompanied by two dinners, which they shared with the young people.

“Palabres” project of digital mediator Diane Din Ebongue started in August 2015. Based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, people from different cultures and social backgrounds share their visions of human rights through the creation of multimedia works. The second phase of the project consists in producing an interactive short film (small film) based on three themes chosen by the participants: education, justice, family.

During the month of October, the young people of AGAPE Center were able, like many Cameroonians, to visit the Esperanza boat of the NGO Green Peace, during the short stay it spent at the port of Douala. It was a very interesting moment, which sparked in them the desire to commit to the preservation of the planet.

Thanks to the actions of the donors, the young people of the center are always sure to have something to eat. Thanks to Cyrille. The young can have donuts for snack as soon as they return from school. They can also benefit from refreshment thanks to Mrs. Kadji's support. Mr. Aliyou and Mama Hawa, who supported the opening of the AGAPE Center, went to visit the kids. It's a story of letting them know that they always remember them and care about their future. They did not come empty-handed.

After the first term exam, Antonina offered a cinema outing to young people. It's changing and it makes them very happy.

The Lions Clubs Abeilles visited the AGAPE Center, accompanied by an expert on drug issues. Through a brilliant presentation, she was able to sensitize, educate and warn young people about the risks and multiple consequences of drug use; physiologically, psychologically, academically, socially. After this exchange session, the young people were able to enjoy the snacks they had brought. We say thank you to Lions Clubs Abeilles for their unwavering support, because beyond donations of food and basic necessities, they think and care about the fate of these young people. This in order to avoid them falling into these drifts.

At the end of the first term, we can already take stock of the work of young people and their school performance. As usual, there are some for which everything goes very well from the first moments, and others for which it takes a little time. We will continue to raise the standards so that by the end of the school year we are all satisfied with their results.

The company Gaz Du Cameroun, through Mrs. Anim and Annick, decided to participate in the end of year festivities with youth of AGAPE Center. This resulted in the availability of a TV and others goods for them. Big thanks to you Aunties, and long live the company Gaz Du Cameroun!

The Diffus'Art association has been inviting the AGAPE Center for four years to participate in these plastic art workshops that it offers on the eve of the Christmas holidays under the concept of “art dans la rue”. Young people are always very interested and passionate to participate in this event during which they can have fun.
