After obtaining the building permit for the future AGAPE Center, things accelerated. The contract was signed with the builder at the end of July, and the installation of the construction site began the following days, beginning August. This resulted in the cleaning of the site, the construction of a construction hut (housing a store, an office, a rest area, a dormitory and a toilet) and a temporary barrier.
After the installation of the site, we proceeded to the implementation step of the future building. It took a little while, because it's a critical phase that you should not miss. This phase was followed by the official opening ceremony of the site on September 20th.
Everything went well during this day. The redeployment point was in Ngangué, in the current center, which is a rented house. We had a small delay and the procession took the road at 14 hours and 30 minutes. With the work done on the road and the deviation to follow, we took a while to get to the field. The authorities arrived and the event began with the presentation of the different parties. The architect took the relay by presenting the project. Then came the site visit and the most awaited moment. The symbolic gesture of laying the first stone of the future building. We finished with interviews and a cocktail party.
This was marked by the participation of many people, including: Daniel Toffel, the president of the partner association SOLENCA, who made the trip from France. We also had the honor to receive at this event, representatives of the State, namely: the sub-prefect of the district of Douala 3rd and the representative of the Regional Delegate of Social Affairs. But also actors from the private sector and civil society like the company Addax Petroleum, who offered the electrical equipment for the electrification of the future building; members of the development committee of the Japoma district where the future house will be built, as well as friends and supporters of the AGAPE cause from the city of Douala and Yaoundé for the most part. Not to mention the participation of the major Cameroonian media channel Canal 2 International.
