We provide a secure day and night center for underprivileged kids in Douala, offering a safe place to relax, play, and study after school. We cover school fees, meals, counseling, tutoring, basic medical care, and more. Without us, they'd face family-less hardship, resorting to begging and street-selling to survive, risking education gaps, vulnerability, extreme poverty, criminality, substance abuse, and exploitation.
The children we help are facing family desertion and educational challenges. They are forced to support their families, who can't often afford to feed them, by begging on the streets or selling worthless items when they should be at school or studying. This leaves them incredibly vulnerable, disenfranchised and with little hope for the future. They often don't receive the medical care they need and some require counselling to help them deal with traumatic personal experiences.
We have established a day and night time safe center (24/7) to get these children off the streets and enable them to continue with their education. We provide a safe place for them to relax, play, socialize and study. In addition we offer counseling, extra tuition, funding for basic medical care and school fees and provide one hot meal and nutritional snack a day. Some of these children often have no food provided for them at home and it is their only opportunity to eat.
Enabling these children to complete their education - giving them an opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty and positively contribute to the society in which they live. Through counselling and extra curricular sessions we teach the importance of basic hygiene and safe sex, which in turn will see a decline in sexually transmitted and other diseases - creating healthier balanced individuals, citizen and families.
